Julian Iantzi Mitxelena, born in California in 1967, is a famous Spanish TV presenter, mainly known for his works in the Basque Country television.

Life

In the 1960s, Iantzi's parents, Ángel Iantzi and Txelo Mitxelena, emigrated from Lesaka to The United States, looking for a better lifestyle. They were there about 23 years, thirteen years grazing and other ten years in a farm. Their three children were born in California and they lived in Dixon until they returned to Lesaka. There were two main reasons to return to Lesaka; their family was in Lesaka and the children had to go to school.

When Iantzi was seven years old, he could only speak English and Euskera, that's what makes to Julian to be a sensitive person with the euskaltzale movement to spread the use of Euskera.

Media work

Iantzi's route on the TV started when he was presented to a casting of Euskal Telebista. Then, Canal 4 gave him his first chance. Before stepping on a set, he did administration, insurance security and was a business owner. He has been a presenter of several programs in different television channels, but undoubtedly he became famous presenting a lot of shows on EITB such as Basetxea, Begia gose, Sorginen laratza, La flecha amarilla and, mainly, El conquistador del fin del mundo. In addition, he has had the chance of guiding features about the life of the Basque communities in the United States.

In March 2007, he made the leap to national television, leading to the program Brainiac, on Cuatro. Later, in the summer of 2008, he presented El muro infernal, the Spanish version of the successful format Hole in the wall of Fuji TV, on LaSexta.

His last job before returning to EITB was made for Antena 3, as a moderator in Vaya par... de tres, a program that was guided by María Patiño and Jesús Mariñas.

Later he returned to EITB to present new editions of El conquistador del fin del mundo. In that TV show, the contestants have to deal with the hard weather, to life conditions and to hard events. The aim of the reality is to bring the flag to the world's end lighthouse.

He would later return to Cuatro to present Billete a Brasil and, in 2015, to LaSexta to collaborate in Zapeando. In 2017, he returned to Antena 3 to present Contigo al fin del mundo. In 2021, he debuted in reality TV as a contestant in the sixth edition of the VIP format MasterChef Spain, where he remained for five weeks.
