The Rights and Freedoms Party (Template:Lang-ku, Template:Lang-tr, abbreviated as HAK-PAR) is a Kurdish nationalist and federalist political party in Turkey.
Party was founded by Abdülmelik Fırat, the grandson of Sheikh Said. Advocating federalism as a means of increasing Kurdish autonomy in the south-east of the country, the party split from the Democratic People's Party (DEHAP) in 2002. The party's head office is in Diyarbakır. Until his death in October 2015, the party was headed by Fehmi Demir.
Politics
The party has highlighted to the fore especially with Federalism as as a solution of Kurdish problems in Turkey and sees as a method of freedom and self-governance of Kurdish people. The party has criticised the PKK's attacks on the Kurdistan Region, claiming that they are a pretext for Turkish intervention, and has accused the HDP, which is often associated with the PKK, of not being a Kurdish party, claiming that it is the only true Kurdish party in running for election. The party also described itself as a "liberal democratic mass party", emphasising that it includes socialists, democrats, religious and liberals, and underlined that it does not represent the left, but the "democratic and libertarian peaceful sectors" in Kurdistan, including leftists, Islamists, patriots and democrats.
