1. Niger is a landlocked sub-Saharan country in Western Africa situated north of Nigeria. The capital city is Niamey.


2. The river Niger is the principal river of Western Africa running 2500 miles in a crescent through Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and forms part of the border of Benin. See Niger River.
