Avigdor Lieberman was born in USSR and immigrated to Israel in 1978. He created the Yisrael Beiteinu party and the Zionist Forum. According to the Jewish Library, Lieberman served as Secretary of the National Workers' Union in Jerusalem; Chairman, Board of Directors of Information Industries; Member, Board of Directors of Economic Corporation of Jerusalem (1983-1988); Director of the Likud Movement (1993-1996); and Director-General Prime Minister's Office (1996-1997).
Lieberman's political opinions are considered Far Right in Israel, and he has sparked controversy by his support for "transfer" of Palestinian and Arab population outside of Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. He is also a strong supporter of Israeli colonization (settlement construction) of West Bank and Gaza and has opposed the Oslo Peace Process since its inception.
He was elected to Kenesset in 1999, and was appointed as the Minister of National Infrastructure in 2001.
