Didymeles

Didymelaceae is a family of flowering plants. The family has been recognised by a fair number of taxonomists, at least over the past few decades.

The APG II system of 2003 does not recognise the family as such, the plants involved being included in the family Buxaceae. However, APG II does allow the option of segregating this family, as an optional segregate; it is then unplaced as to order and left among the basal lineages of the eudicots.

This represents a slight change from the APG system, of 1998, which firmly did recognised the family, with the same placement.

The family consists of a single genus only, Didymeles, with probably two species of evergreen trees, restricted to Madagascar and the Comoro Islands.
