Regarding your edit to Ayn Rand that was recently reverted by Steve Wolfer. He is correct, Rand was NOT against private charity between individuals at all. Please make your edits factual. Thanks. ] 10:32, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
:That's just not so! Ayn opposed the stupid idea that we have any obligation to give to charity and explained how giving people hand-outs only undermines their self-determination. You're right only in that she did not want to allow the government to prevent private charity, because that would give the government too much power, but was quite clear on such charity being immoral. Please don't give in to the liberals by hiding what we really stand for. We should be proud of Capitalism, instead of crouching behind political correctness. ] 15:42, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
::She opposed the idea that we have a DUTY to give to charity. That is not the same as opposing charity itself. Endlessmike 888 16:09, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Once again, that's just not so. Ayn only supports charity under very limited conditions that are in opposition to the goals of most private charities out there, and she opposes all government charity. ] 19:40, 13 April 2007 (UTC) |
