RAJPUROHITS undeletion

Hey ! You had deleted the page that I created "RAJPUROHITS" because of the existing disputed page "Rajpurohit". I wish to convey that though the name is similar but there is stark difference between existing page and the new one in terms of content. The existing page has been so heavily eroded due to heavy modifications that it has lost its true form. Due to edit warring and manipulation by people with vested interests and also more protective layers that it has lost authentic content and is difficult to change. I wish to create a fresh page with new information which would be authentic. Kindly undelete and allow me to build a robust content on the topic. Regards Anshu1799 (talk) 02:47, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

@Anshu1799: I cannot restore the article at its former location because it will just get deleted again under CSD A10. If we created a "fork" of an article every time there was an editorial dispute, we would have hundreds of different versions of many articles. I can, however, restore that version into a draft within your userspace, which you can use as a tool to seek consensus for your changes to the main article. --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 07:27, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

Nice work on fixing that "redirect" - Did your watchlist just turn red too? DN (talk) 03:40, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
@Darknipples: Thank you for the award! I assume you are talking about the block I placed on the editor who moved Tim Walz? I just happened to randomly run across other page-blanking vandalism by that user while on RC patrol, so I dropped the hammer. --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 03:48, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

Thank you

No problem, thank you for reporting the user! --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 04:22, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

Why not semi-protect the page

They are not going to stop. Ratnahastin (talk) 05:25, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

@Ratnahastin: I certainly can. They will then move to a different page. --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 05:26, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

User:Freerobucks

Hey, are you able to revoke their TPA? And maybe revdel their TP while you're at it? Thanks Aydoh8 04:31, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

@Aydoh8: Done, thanks for bringing it to my attention! --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 04:35, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

We almost certainly have a block evasion by User:Lejmez active on Massacres of Albanians in World War I by the name of User:Le Joffre

Just bringing this to your attention, as the title says, it appears that the indefinitely blocked edit warring User:Lejmez created a new account 9 days ago and resumed edit warring on Massacres of Albanians in World War I, precisely when they were permanently blocked. Their new account is User:Le Joffre. See the diff here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Massacres_of_Albanians_in_World_War_I&diff=prev&oldid=1255938042 165.237.199.140 (talk) 00:06, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Indeffed, thanks. --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 00:52, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the block, you might want to revoke TPA as well. — ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · contribs · email · global) 05:10, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

@ClaudineChionh:  Done, thanks! --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 05:11, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Hey, Chris. I've blocked this user without waiting for them to edit as you suggested. I'm OK with the boobs but not the racism. Bishonen | tålk 23:41, 9 November 2024 (UTC).

revert history

Good evening. When I checked my edit history I saw that I had 1 reversion, but to my knowledge I had never been reverted. I think that I may have accidentally self reverted when editing "Registered Mail". I am really proud of my perfect edit quality, is there any way I can delete the revision to keep it perfect? Thank you R8cobra (talk) 03:36, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

@R8cobra (talk page watcher) (Non-administrator comment) Not for that reason, no. If it's any reassurance at all, I have one of the biggest edit counts on Misplaced Pages, and my edit quality is far from perfect. People keeping asking me why I'm not an admin, anyways. Mistakes are simply part of being human. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 04:37, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@I dream of horse Thank you. What are some reasons a reversion can be deleted? R8cobra (talk) 07:59, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@R8cobra They're listed here: Misplaced Pages:Revision deletion#Criteria for redaction, or for more severe cases, Misplaced Pages:Oversight#Policy. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 08:02, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@I dream of horses Thanks! Could this be used? "RD6. Non-contentious housekeeping including correction of clear and obvious unintended mistakes in previous redactions, changes to redaction based upon communal discussion and clear consensus, adding information to the delete logs, and converting traditional selective deleted edits to RevisionDelete. (The action must not be likely to be contentious or controversial; consult if needed.)" R8cobra (talk) 08:05, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@R8cobra I can't think of a situation where that would be used. Probably not this one. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 08:07, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@I dream of horses Is there any way to fix it? It would bother me to the point of deleting my account and making a new one if I can't. R8cobra (talk) 08:10, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@R8cobra Not only is it incredibly unlikely to be fixable---and even if it is, it's not reasonable to take the time to revision delete every mistake an editor will make---the copyright situation on Misplaced Pages is so your account can't be deleted. The edits you make have to be attributed. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 08:38, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@I dream of horses It's one error that I can reference, and I know how to avoid it in the future, revision delete only needs to be used on one edit in "Registered Mail" because it was my first time adding an infobox and it wasn't showing on the mobile app (even though it was showing on the website version). I think it's reasonable to request an edit reversion once. R8cobra (talk) 08:42, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@R8cobra You might know how to avoid this kind of mistake, but being human, you are certain to make another kind of mistake, and another, and another. You'll have to forgive me for disbelieving that you'll only request a rev-deletion for a mistake just this once. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 08:47, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@I dream of horses True, I am human. However, now that I know that the undo button is actually the revert button, I don't believe I will make this error again. You don't have to take my word for it though, as I'm only asking for one revision delete. R8cobra (talk) 09:00, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@R8cobra Just revert/re-revert. If you simply did that instead of engaging in this discussion, fewer people would've known. Honestly, no one reasonable would've cared even if you accidentally reverted them if you correct the mistake swiftly enough. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 11:14, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@I dream of horses I didn't want to give myself more reverts accidentally and didn't know if this was possible. Thanks for the advice. R8cobra (talk) 11:17, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@I dream of horses It says I can't due to intermediate conflicting edits. R8cobra (talk) 11:21, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@R8cobra Can you remove the mistake manually, without hitting a button? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 13:42, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@I dream of horses Wouldn't my revision count remain at one? that's the problem R8cobra (talk) 15:22, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@R8cobra I don't understand the question. Why does your revision count matter? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 20:13, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@I dream of horses that's why I started this thread. I want my revert count to remain perfect because I wasn't reverted for cause. R8cobra (talk) 21:31, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@R8cobra Oh! Even if the edit was revision deleted, the numbers of reverts you'd have would remain unchanged. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 23:01, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
@R8cobra: It's worth noting that even if you manually revert yourself (edit the page and make a change that exactly undoes a prior edit of yours) it will still tag the old one as "reverted." It's also the case that having a reversion "on your record" doesn't even necessarily mean that you did anything wrong. Reverts happen all of the time across Misplaced Pages.
  • I do a lot of RC patrol and revert vandals, who often revert my reversions. My edits therefore show up as reverted.
  • If you ever make an edit someone else disagrees with, they might revert it, even if you ultimately are right.
  • People tag articles with {{copyvio-revdel}} to request redaction for copyright reasons. When I complete the request and remove the tag, it shows that their edit introducing the tag was reverted.
My suggestion would be to simply change your perception of the "reverted" tag. It doesn't mean you did anything wrong, and nobody else is going to interpret it that way, either. --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 23:41, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
disappointing, but thanks R8cobra (talk) 23:43, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
