Jonesy and Amanda is a multi-award-winning Australian breakfast radio show hosted by Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller.

The program airs weekdays on Gold 101.7 in Sydney from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and is also syndicated nationally on the Gold Network in a late drive slot from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Known for its mix of humor, music, and relatable stories, Jonesy and Amanda has become a staple of Australian radio since its debut in 2005.

History

Jones and Keller both previously worked at Triple M, with Jones on the drive shift and Keller on the breakfast shift with Andrew Denton.

Jonesy filled in for Denton one week on breakfast and noted the chemistry that he shared with Keller. When Jonesy later went to WSFM to work on breakfast there, he specifically requested they hire Keller so he could work with her, telling his boss to hire her and pay her whatever she wants. He reportedly said, "If we get her, we will go #1 next year, and if we don't, I will leave." The show went on to become the number one FM breakfast program.

Regular Segments

Magnificent Seven

To open the show, callers are challenged to answer seven questions in a relay race style format (if someone gets a question wrong, the next caller in line attempts the question). The seven questions are frequently relevant to current events. The person who answers the final question wins a prize.

Instagrand

In this competition, callers are challenged to answer ten trivia questions to win $1000. If they answer all ten questions correctly, they can go double or nothing by answering an extra bonus question correctly.

Pub Test

In Australian politics, the 'pub test' is a standard for judging policies, proposals, and decisions. Something 'passes the pub test' if an ordinary Australian pub patron would understand and accept it to be fair, if it came up in conversation. In the Jonesy and Amanda Pub Test segment, a recent event, news story, or social concept is discussed on the show, and callers are asked to decide whether or not it passes the Pub Test.

TikTok Tucker

Every Thursday, Jonesy and Amanda recreate a popular viral recipe from TikTok. The recipes are frequently judged as disgusting by Jonesy and Amanda.

Fight for Your Flashback

Every Friday, Jonesy and Amanda are given a theme by management, and in fitting with that theme, they pick two older songs that aren't typically played on the radio and pit them against each other. Callers are tasked to decide which song they would rather hear played.

Jalmanac

Trivia of a song or band is shared and discussed before playing the song.

Special events

World record attempts

In 2010, Jonesy and Amanda set a Guinness World Record for the 'Longest underwater broadcast,' achieved by broadcasting their breakfast show for over three hours underwater at 3.8 meters from inside the Great Barrier Reef Habitat at the Sydney Aquarium.

In 2019, Jonesy and Amanda set a Guinness World Record for the 'Largest dim sum (yum cha) dinner.' This was achieved during the 2019 Sydney Lunar Festival. Approximately 3,100 individual pieces of dim sum were cooked by the Let's Do Yum Cha food truck and were served to 764 people. This segment won an Australian Commercial Radio Award for Best Sales Promotion.

Ratings and reception

The show has consistently achieved strong ratings, often ranking among Sydney's top breakfast programs. In the sixth radio ratings survey of 2024, Jonesy and Amanda increased their share to 10.6%, marking their best performance since 2017.
