Joshua Van (born October 10, 2001), is a Burmese-born American mixed martial artist currently competing in the Flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). As of January 1, 2025, he is ranked #15, in the UFC Flyweight rankings.

Early Life and Background

Van was born in Hakha, Myanmar. Due to escalating military and political conflicts in Myanmar, his family relocated to Malaysia when he was ten years old in search of better opportunities.

At the age of twelve, Van and his family moved to Houston, Texas.

Mixed Martial Arts Career

Early Career

Van made his professional MMA debut in 2021, He fought exclusively for Fury Fighting Championship, where he acquired a 7-1 recording including the main event of Fury FC 72 on December 18, 2022 where he submitting Cleveland McLean in the second round to win the promotion's Flyweight title.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Van made his UFC debut on short notice at UFC on ABC 5 on June 24, 2023 against Zhalgas Zhumagulov. He would win the fight by split decision.

Van next fought at UFC 295 against Kevin Borjas on November 11, 2023. He would win the fight via unanimous decision.

Van would once again fight on short notice stepping in to replace Denys Bondar to face Felipe Bunes at UFC on ESPN+ 92 on January 13, 2024. He would win the fight by second round technical knockout, marking his first stoppage victory inside the UFC.

Van would next compete at UFC on ESPN 59 against Charles Johnson on July 13, 2024. He would lose the fight via knockout in the third round, marking his first loss inside the UFC.

Van would again step in on short notice replacing former opponent Kevin Borjas to face Edgar Chairez at UFC 306 on September 14, 2024. Van would win the fight via unanimous decision, after which he called out Cody Durden.

Van would then face Durden at UFC 310 on December 7, 2024. He would win the fight via a dominant unanimous decision.
