Chisholm endorsed Lovern's candidacy as did multiple Milwaukee elected leaders including U.S. representative Gwen Moore and Mayor Cavalier Johnson. Lovern did not face opposition in the Democratic primary in August or the general election in November. He will assume office as district attorney on January 6, 2025.
