Debanjan Pakrashy (born August 27, 2004) is an Indian singer, music producer, and content creator based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Known for his unique blend of Indian pop and hip-hop, he gained recognition for his emotionally evocative original compositions and dedication to his craft despite personal and financial hardships. He is the founder of Agnostic Duster Music and Phoenix Films And Musics.

Early Life and Background

Debanjan Pakrashy was born on August 27, 2004, in Durgapur, West Bengal, and later moved to Kolkata at a very early age. He studied at B.D.M. International, completing his 12th grade with a focus on computer science.

His family comprises his mother, Anindita Pakrashy, and younger brother, Nilanjan Pakrashy. In 2022, following the sudden passing of his father, Monoranjan Pakrashy, due to a heart attack, Debanjan took on the responsibility of supporting his family. Balancing jobs in private sectors and pursuing his passion for music, he also ensured his brother's education and well-being.

Career Beginnings

Debanjan's musical journey began during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown after his 10th board exams. With no prior experience or resources besides an old guitar, he turned to YouTube tutorials to learn the basics of music. Facing heartbreak and financial struggles, he began experimenting with his father's old phone and computer to record and edit music.

Encouraged by his father, Debanjan uploaded his early attempts on YouTube. Despite initial criticism, he remained motivated, eventually transitioning from cover songs to creating original compositions. He honed his skills in music production using FL Studio and became certified in the software through a course from Haryana. Over time, he purchased better equipment, including a BM 800 microphone, and mastered the art of composing, recording, and producing music independently.

Musical Style and Influences

Debanjan Pakrashy primarily works in Indian pop music and hip-hop. Initially inspired by Bollywood artists like Arijit Singh, Jubin Nautiyal, KK, and Mustafa Zahid, he later drew inspiration from international icons such as The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, and Travis Scott. His music is characterized by heartfelt lyrics, emotional depth, and a fusion of Indian and Western elements.
