The A Lyga (English: The A League) is the top division of professional football in Lithuania. It is organized by NFKA (Lithuanian: Nacionalinė futbolo klubų asociacija, English: National Football Club Association). There are 10 teams in the competition. The new season kicks off in April of every year because of the harsh climate there are no games in winter.
