Little Hulton is a village in the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Lancashire, it comes under the local authority of Salford City Council and is bordered by Farnworth to the north and Walkden to the south-east, and according to the United Kingdom Census 2001 has a population of 10,216.
Until the 19th century, Little Hulton was a township in the Parish of Deane, in Lancashire. In 1837 Little Hulton joined with other townships (or civil parishes) in the area to form the Bolton Poor Law Union and took joint responsibility for the administration and funding of the Poor Law in that area. In 1872 a Local Board of Health was established for the township, and in 1894 Little Hulton Urban District was created, but was abolished in 1933 and merged as part of Worsley Urban District. Since 1974 Little Hulton has been a ward of Salford City Council, in the county of Greater Manchester, England.
In more recent times the area was once dubbed by the Bolton Evening News as the "car fire capital of the county", for its very high rate of car fires in 1998.
