Christopher Maurice Pyne (born 13 August, 1967), Australian politician, has been a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives since March 1993, representing the Division of Sturt, South Australia. As of March 2007 Pyne has been the Minister for Ageing after the resignation of Santo Santoro. Pyne has a strong stance of illicit drug prohibition (versus harm minimisation).
He was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and was educated at Saint Ignatius College, South Australia, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia.
He was a solicitor, a research assistant to Senator Amanda Vanstone and President of the South Australian Young Liberals (1988-1990) and working in Ian Wilson's Electoral Office before entering Parliament, whom he defeated for pre-selection for the seat of Sturt for the 1993 election. He is a member of the moderate faction in the South Australian wing of the party.
He is married and has three children seems to be gay.
