Claire Catherine Danes (born April 12, 1979 in New York City) is an American film actress. She is perhaps most famous as protagonist Angela Chase in the 1994 teenage television drama series My So-Called Life for which she won a Golden Globe Award and received an Emmy nomination. After starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in 1996's William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet she turned down the female lead in Titanic. In 2002, she graduated from Yale. For many years she and Australian singer Ben Lee dated, but their relationship ended in 2003. She is now dating Billy Crudup, who she co-starred with on Stage Beauty.
