* {{User|Ken Gallager}} left comment 'removing pipes' and removed all links on disambiguation page that were not to disambiguated pages. (). This seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure of the motivation. If you don't mind, Ken, could you explain it, so that I might do the same on other disambiguation pages I come across? Thanks. ]] 02:17, 12 July 2007 (UTC) |

:Hi Jethero -- No problem. I'm writing this as one who spends a lot of time using disambiguation pages to clean up other articles. Pipes are great in regular Misplaced Pages articles, because they allow the writer to use the text that flows most naturally. On a dab page, however, editors such as myself want to know right away where to send that ambiguous link, and therefore need to have the actual name of the article on display. Similarly, we discard any other links that might be in a particular entry, so that the only link that is left is the one we can use to fix the ambiguous link in the article we're editing. It may not seem that important at first, but if you get to doing a lot of cleaning up articles, having the proper links being visible immediately on the dab page is a major benefit. You can check ] for further explanation. Thanks for asking! --] 18:41, 12 July 2007 (UTC) |
