Asafa Powell (born November 11, 1982) is a Jamaican sprinter. He was one of the favourites for the 100m at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, but finished only fifth in the final.

He however redeemed himself by breaking the world 100 metres record in Athens on 14th June 2005. He recorded 9.77sec, beating the previous record held by Tim Montgomery by 0.01sec.
