Lajen (Laion) (Italian: Laion; German: Lajen; Archaic (985 AD): Legian) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 70 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 20 km northeast of the city of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,401 and an area of 37 km².
The municipality of Lajen (Laion) contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Albions, Freins (Fraina), Ried (Novale), St. Peter (S. Pietro), Tanirz (Tanurza), and Tschöfas (Ceves).
Lajen (Laion) borders the following municipalities: Barbian (Barbiano), Kastelruth (Castelrotto), Klausen (Chiusa), Urtijëi (Ortisei), Villanders (Villandro), Villnöß (Funes), and Waidbruck (Ponte Gardena).
