Lizzie Grubman (born January 30, 1971) is a celebrity publicist . She founded her own company in 1996 and her clients have included Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and Jay-Z.
In 2002, she was charged with assault and leaving the scene of an accident after driving her SUV into a crowd of people outside a Long Island nightclub, injuring 16 people. Grubman had been facing up to eight years in prison, but served 37 days of a 60-day sentence in jail and received 5 year's probation after reaching a plea bargain. The trial garnered wide publicity. Grubman has claimed that the SUV incident was an accident. An expert hired by the plaintiffs in a civil case against her who reconstructed the accident based on data from the car's "black box" determined that her actions intentional.
In 2005, she and her firm were featured in an MTV reality TV show entitled PoweR Girls which focused on her firm's activities in New York City. The show's title was a reference to a New York magazine profile of Grubman in 1988.New York magazine, that profiled Grubman and several of her rivals, noting that "Lizzie was clearly the most powerful girl of all."
