For the animated series of the same name, see Horseland (TV Series)

Horseland is an online community that simulates the breeding and raising of horses and dogs. Begun in 1994 by a 14 year old girl in the United States, Horseland has now grown to have more than 4 million users who play from all over the world. Most of the players are girls from age 10 to 22, although a number of older women and men play the game. In September 2006, an animated cartoon series based on the web site was launched in the United States.

Main Games

There are two main games in the site. The first is the Horseland Junior game which is targeted for kids less than 13 years old. This game is easy to play and features content from the Horseland Cartoon Series. The second game is Horseland World, which is more complex and is aimed at people ages 13 and older. Horseland World players start out as a "Basic Player."

Premium Player Benefits

Horseland World's "Premium Player" option costs $29.90 USD dollars per year. Premium players can re-upgrade their accounts for $24.90 USD, and will get 100,000 "Player Points" and $1,000.000 HLD (Horseland Dollars), twice the bonus given when they first upgrade.

Premium players have all the gaming privileges given to Basic players, as well as additional features including the ability to create shows and sell horse and dog Training Tickets. Training Tickets are tickets that allow a horse or dog to gain 50 points per ticket without it affecting their health. These tickets may be used on a player's own animals, or the player may elect to sell them to other players. While Basic Players are allowed to collect 10,000 HLD a week from the "Bank," Premium players are able to collect 200,000 HLD.

Training

Horseland Players can train their animals, by means of either "Ticket Training" or "Show Training." Show Training involves players clicking on individual show classes, which originate from shows made by a Premium Player that each contain 100 classes per show. As their animals gain "points," the user will also gain "Player Points," which are equal to the points the trained animals gain.

Horseland as a Social Network

In addition to being a simulation game, Horseland also has many attributes of a social network. Players can create layouts for their home pages by spending Horseland money, and can chat with other players and can create lists of "stable buddies".
