The Muhajir or Mohajir Afghans are the Afghan refugees that fled Afghanistan after the Soviet invasion in 1979. There were over six million refugees that fled to Pakistan and Iran. Thousands of refugees were also settled in the European Union, Turkey, United States, Canada and Australia.
