Greater Poland (sometimes Great Poland; Polish Wielkopolska) is one of the historical regions of Poland. It is located in western-central Poland.
Its principal cities are Poznan, Gniezno, Kalisz and Pila. Most of it lies within the Wielkopolskie voivodship (administrative province), created in 1999 out of the former districts of Poznan, Kalisz, Konin, Lezno and Pila.
Wielkopolska was the core of the early medieval Polish state, and at times was called just Poland.
