Riots erupted in Kenya after Mwai Kibaki was declared re-elected as the country's president in a disputed election. Opposition supporters, angered by the announcement of President Kibaki's re-election, went on rampage across the nation by burning shacks and shops.

Casualties

A BBC reporter saw 43 bodies with gunshot wounds in a mortuary in the opposition stronghold of Kisumu. A witness said police shot protesters. There have been running battles in Nairobi slums. The local KTN television station says 124 have died nationwide.
