J.D. gets an ego boost by wearing a white doctor's coat, but also has to accept the increased responsibilities that come with it. Elliot's reputation takes a knock when she has a one-night fling with a doctor she just met. Meanwhile, Turk has to work with extremely short attending surgeon "Dr. Amato", until an opportunity to seem cool to the other surgeons looks to better his career, at the cost of having to humiliate Elliot.
Production
In Ted's office, the picture behind him is Sam Lloyd (the actor who plays Ted)'s mother.
Cultural References
One of J.D.'s fantasies involves an imaginary opera singer (Bruce Sledge) who sings the word "MISTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!" whenever J.D. does something stupid. This is a joke also used in a stand-up routine by comedian Dana Gould. In the end credits, Bruce Sledge's character is revealed to have the name "Dana Gould".
When Dr. Cox calls J.D. a "tiny dancer", he is referring to the Elton John song "Tiny Dancer".
In the episode J.D. says Domo Arigato Dr. Amato, a reference to the Styx song Mr. Roboto.
