Orphaned non-free media (Image:DREAMS OF TERROR AND DEATH .JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:DREAMS OF TERROR AND DEATH .JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:19, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

- Image:Shadow over innsmouth.JPG does not depict the cover of the book "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", because there is no such book. "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" is a short story by H.P. Lovecraft. The book whose cover you've uploaded is called Shadows Over Innsmouth, and it is not related to "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" except in the similarity of its name. I've removed it from the Lovecraft article accordingly. I've also removed it from where you stuck it on the bottom of the Stephen Jones article, since there's really no reason for it to be there. --Quuxplusone (talk) 06:50, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- Image:Shadow over innsmouth.JPG is the 1994 cover to a Hardcover Collection Edited by Stephen Jones (author) that contains the story the Shadow Over Innsmouth and its inspirations. Contributors are Neil Gaiman, Ramsey Campbell, David Sutton, Jack Yeovil and thirteen more terrifying tales.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:CLOCK OF DREAMS.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:CLOCK OF DREAMS.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:53, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Welcome
Hello, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. I'm sorry that no one bothered to welcome you until now, but you seen to be making some great contributions at any rate. I particularly appreciate your contributions to Harlan Ellison which was in desperate need of pictures before you came along. Since you've been around for a while now you probably already know about many of the policies and guidelines for Misplaced Pages, but I would be remiss if I didn't point these out to you just in case.
- The five pillars of Misplaced Pages
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I also noticed that you have been making several edits to the same page in succession. Rather than saving each of your attempts, it's much better to make liberal use of the "show preview" button, which allows you to see the results of your edit before you hit the "save page" button. That way, all of those edits that aren't quite right don't clog up the edit history (something you will come to appreciate once you've been around for a while)
Sorry about the lecture, but I hope these pointers will make editing a better experience for you in the long run. Keep up the great contributions! Sbacle (talk) 23:49, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Copyright problems
Hello. Concerning your contribution, Image:Pooch cthulhu.jpg, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material without the permission of the author. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.poochisland.com/artwork/images/costume_of_cthulu.jpg (an image by the artist Michael Pucciarelli). As a copyright violation, Image:Pooch cthulhu.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Image:Pooch cthulhu.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at ] and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Misplaced Pages:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at ] with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on ].
However, for text content, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Misplaced Pages. Of course it's possible that you actually are Michael Pucciarelli in which case I think you'll need to get an OTRS ticket to demonstrate that you own the copyright to the image! Purgatorio 18:24, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Are you sure it's a book cover? It doesn't have many of the features of a typical book cover, such as a title, name of author etc. It is certainly a copy of an image by the artist Michael Pucciarelli. Its use in the article contains no critical commentary on any book. Purgatorio 18:51, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
