The A Lyga (English: The A League) is the top division of professional football in Lithuania. It is organized by NFKA (Lithuanian: Nacionalinė futbolo klubų asociacija, English: National Football Club Association). There are 8 teams in the competition. The new season kicks off late March / early April of every year; because of the harsh climate there are no games in winter.
