==Ride of the Valkyries==

Hi there,

I've stated my point of view on the reference to "Birth Of A Nation" over at ]. Personally I've never felt that a list of contexts in which a piece has been used is very illuminating as regards telling anything about the piece itself. It also has the potential to become bloated out of all proportion to the material which is actually about the work. Yourself and others may well disagree. By all means reply on the article's talk page; I am quite happy to abide by the consensus. Regards, --] 07:16, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

== Constitution ==

That's a very good question. There are copies of the original 1950 Constitution available online behind subscription walls; many libraries have scanned them in, and technically Google books should have the full version online, as it is public domain. (They don't, though, which is irritating.) I personally use an old copy from the 1950s. I'm sorry I can't help further. ] 04:17, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

==Ride of the Valkyries - Birth of a Nation==
Hello,
I should probably provide a better reason for why I removed the content. The statement "perceived by some...as the pinnacle of "Aryan" music." is quite unverifiable, as well as not falsifiable. I strongly believe (having seen BOAN, though not with the original score) that no one would consider the Ride of the Valkyries as a pinnacle of Aryan Music. Other works by Wagner would certainly be more appropriate (eg. ], which plainly advocated German Nationalism, and was used as Nazi Propaganda). Ride of the Valkyries is not a serious piece (The Valkyries often laugh out loud during it, as did the audience at a recent production of Walküre that I saw). However, this is all beside the point. If you can source such a claim, then by all means include it.

:Thanks for your measured response,
:I think the sentence "The particular usage of Ride of the Valkyries in this scene shows how the piece was perceived by some Americans during the beginning of the 20th century - as the pinnacle of "Aryan" music." should be removed. It is unverifiable and ]. You say "it is certainly safe to say", but this is just your opinion. You have no evidence even to prove that Griffith specifically asked Breil to include this particular piece. I am not saying we should remove all reference to BOAN from the article. I am saying we should remove the unverifiable sentence. --] 23:28, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
::Hello again. The auteur theory of film making is not universally agreed on. My problem is the line of logic that connects Griffith/Breil's choice of music with the statement that it was considered a pinnacle of Aryan music. Your only evidence that it was considered as such is that Griffith chose to use it in a particular scene in a particular film. I also don't understand your comment "I believe that you need a source to say to refute such an affirmation".

==AfD nomination of Encyclopaedia Metallum==
]An editor has nominated ], an article on which you have worked or that you created, for ]. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "]").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at {{#if:Encyclopaedia Metallum | ] | ] }} and please be sure to ] with four tildes (<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the ] template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you.<!-- Template:AFDNote --> ] (]) 06:59, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
