::: Ok, thanks. The reason I asked about this is because in some game forums, I blocked some troublemakers with IPs from Singapore. Turns out Singapore only has a few ISP. The IP range is narrow and every time you click a new page, the IP changes. That's why I wasn't sure what to do with dynamic IPs when they're used by vandals. ]] 02:14, 6 April 2008 (UTC) |

Can you remove the small print please...it makes it really hard to read. You can collapse that long list of refs once the issues are solved, but for now I'd like to be able to read it! dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 01:04, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Barnstars
While I realize that I have currently been awarding many barnstars, all of them have been through WP:AWC, which I currently run. Generally speaking, I award one barnstar per task. It just so happens that I post the vast majority of tasks on WP:AWC and as such I end up awarding the most barnstars. I understand that I have a troubled past regarding that issue, but unfortunately this is a responsibility that was thrown at me after User:The_Transhumanist took his wikihiatus. I have asked other Wikipedians to help me with the project (including MFC), but as of yet I can't find anyone to help. If you wish to help, I would be incredibly grateful, as managing the entire project myself has become a timesink and prevents me from my other Wiki-duties. Thanks for looking out for me, --Sharkface217 23:34, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Incorrect Article revert notification
Hi! I received a message indicating that you reverted some changes made on the article for Buffer solution. However, I did not in fact make the edits and and I'm pretty sure the IP is not mine. I've made a couple of other edits and none of them show up under that address. No apologies necessary; I know that's the sort of thing that happens when you're an anonymous user. I just wanted to let you know your message went astray. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.51.114.174 (talk) 06:47, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Huggle Whitelist
Something I just thought of: The whitelist should be semi-protected. It hasn't had a vandalism problem yet, but since no IP address should be editing it anyway... What do you think? Enigma 05:47, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Tzatziki Squad/Cannon/Thank you
Thanks for the barnstar, I'm quite pleased with everyone's work. You did most of it though...it's nice to collaborate when people actually work on the article. ;) If J-stan's picking the next one (or really if anyone's picking), we should make a template to inform people of the new collaboration, it might attract more people to join the next one. Keilana| 18:05, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- That's fine, we should put the word out that we're working on this article, though. It's an interesting topic, I'm going source-hunting later today. :) I haven't been in a proper collaboration - that met its goals - ever, so it was quite a pleasant surprise. I hope we can keep going on the same track, people may start to burn out. D'you want me to do the talkpage poking? Keilana| 19:07, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I'll go do some spamming. :) Enjoy reading, it may give you some ideas for articles...hint, hint. I'll try to get some work in today, it's a fascinating topic. Also, we should make a list of possible MP dates for Cannon, I was thinking Jan. 28. Any ideas? Keilana| 20:35, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'd say either June or December, which would you like? Keilana| 21:13, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- June 18 sounds good, I'll put a little notice on the TSQUAD page so we remember. ;) Hopefully we'll be around to revert all the vandals. It's a pretty core article, so that should help our odds. I looked at the stats, and it gets around 1000-1100 views a day. :) Keilana| 21:34, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's here; we seem to consistently get 700-1000 without hordes of people collaborating, see December 2007. That tool is *awesome*. Keilana| 02:07, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Aww...you and Keilana deserve most of the credit. Oh well, there's no "I" in "squad." bibliomaniac15 Hey you! Stop lazing around and help fix this article instead! 20:18, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Peer review: 4X
Hey there. I've been working a bit on the 4X strategy game genre article. I really don't deserve much credit, though -- I've mostly been referencing what's already there and cleaning it up. I was hoping you could participate in the peer review of the article. I expect/hope at least one other person will chime in. But either way, I would like to get at least two opinions on the article, to have an idea on how to best move forward. Do what you can, at your leisure... Randomran (talk) 23:31, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'll try to remind you later this week. No hurry. I'm pretty busy these days too. Maybe you could remind me to remind you? (j/k) Randomran (talk) 23:53, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- This is your friendly reminder for a peer review :) Let me know what you think of 4X. Anything you can offer is helpful. Particularly on the kinds of things that help a B-status article reach GA.
- One quick request that would help the article the most: I already know there's a lot of original research. A peer review from last year said that, and the article has come a long way since then. There's still some ways to go, so saying that there's too much original research is already kind of obvious. But if you do focus on WP:OR, the most helpful thing you can do is help create a mandate for fixing specific sections. In particular, the "Technology Tree" (s2.5), and "Constraints" (s2.9) have been huge headaches. If you can get specific about the OR, then editors trying to weed out OR could point to specific things we need to do, and use that to justify big edits. The hardest thing to do in wikipedia is explain why true information should be deleted, due to a lack of references. Randomran (talk) 00:15, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

The Picture of Germanicus Caeser on the Vandalism Page.
You wouldn't happen to know anything more about that picture would you? As in, did the artist who put the cross in the center of the fore-head also snub out the nose? Was it vandalised by more than one person/groups of people? Did you take the picture yourself? I only ask because the cross clearly was placed with care, while it looks like someone dragged the bust across a rock-face to degrade the nose. Thank you! Paladin Hammer (talk) 21:32, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Just wanted to say thank you for your response and the help regarding the Dunbar robbery! It's my goal here to try and source everything I can, as Misplaced Pages can be incredibly misleading without them. Thanks again! Paladin Hammer (talk) 02:09, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I want to thank you for taking part in editing this page in particular and even though I may not know you, embrace the same talk pages, or even edit with you in the near future, I'd like to award you this Barnstar for making Misplaced Pages a fun environment in which to contribute. correct
That's correct. I took it literally as a "request for comment" and provided commentary which I felt set the scene for this situation, including my view that the "cabal" issue was a red herring in this particular case. Orderinchaos 13:51, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
History of timekeeping devices.
Hi, I was wondering what your opinion would be on an article "History of timekeeping devices in Egypt". I'm getting a lot on shadow clocks, sundials, merkhet, etc., and I think it would be a reasonable content fork, plus a possible Tzatziki Squad DYK. ;) Thoughts? Keilana| 00:42, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'll create it now, can I just fork the content for now? I'm thinking that we can shorten the stuff on the main page a bit, and really expand on the Egypt page. First TSQUAD DYK? ;) Keilana| 00:50, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've nominated it for DYK, if you think of a better hook please put it in...mine's terrible. Keilana| 01:51, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's actually about 2.6 kilobytes, thus meeting the criteria...am I missing something here? Keilana| 01:58, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Question on IP block
I have a question. You told me on MSN that we shouldn't block IPs indefinetely. What if that IP is obviously sockpuppeting (as in the case of Misplaced Pages:Requests for checkuser/Case/Community service)? Indef block or leave it alone? OhanaUnited 20:17, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- IPs should only be blocked indefinitely if they are open proxies, or completely static. There's the issue that IPs blocked indefinitely may switch to a different owner. Best just to block it for a few months or something. Majorly (talk) 20:34, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, a month or so would probably be best in this case. If they're constantly rotating their IP address (example), then even a week is enough, as they'll probably not use the same one twice. · AndonicO 23:20, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
