The Hive is a fictional top secret underground laboratory located beneath Raccoon City in the Resident Evil video games, and is a setting for the Resident Evil films as well. For the first film, the incomplete U-Bahn station at Berlin, Germany, was used as the location shoot for the facility during March 2001. Although the Hive was destroyed in the ending of the second Resident Evil film, a similar facility appeared in Resident Evil: Extinction, controlled by an artificial intelligence known as The White Queen.
In the Resident Evil games
The Hive was first depicted in Resident Evil 2 as a secret Umbrella Corporation laboratory. Located under Raccoon City, the laboratory is used for the research of bio-organic weapons, notably the G-Virus.

Near the end of the film, the city is destroyed with a missile. Resident Evil: Extinction features another Hive in Death Valley, which is used for the research of a cure to the T-Virus and of the Tyrant Program. This Hive is taken over by the protagonist Alice at the end of the film.
