Instructions for using the Keeper-pedia/WikiKeeper
as written by TCari & friends

  1. Embrace the edit conflict, for happen it will.
  2. Leaving a comment for Keeper doesn't mean that it will be Keeper who answers it, although he'll try. See #1. Make new friends you will.
  3. Save the drama for your mama. Everyone (mostly) gets along here.
  4. If American, you must be a baseball fan. Doesn't matter which team(s) as it's almost guaranteed someone will razz you on it. May apply for all sports
  5. If you have edited here at least 10 times, you are a talk page stalker. Especially if you've edited here at least 10 times responding to another stalker instead of to Keeper.
  6. Be prepared for unexpected topic changes. "Has anyone noticed that only on this page can you begin talking about creating a Geo list and then start talking about....lets see- we have gas prices, ancestry, pants, pant sizes, mean names, weight, metabolism, obesity, and all the rest? Wow!! I would say more, but I'm about to die of laughter." --Dusti
  7. Somewhat related, you may, at times, feel as if you are tumbling down a rabbit hole...
  8. It will eat your watchlist, but that's a far more pleasant sight than drama and AfD arguments and other debates.
  9. Feel free to add more instructions/rules here for Keeper-pedia...

What do you want me to respond about?

What evidence do you want me to respond to? TRM was talking about an email exchange we had a few days back about IRC, it had nothing to do with Evula, or the situation that you brought up. Ryan Postlethwaite 22:59, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Where did I say anything about wanting you to respond to "evidence", or anything for that matter? I simply said I didn't like the diff I saw from you that you posted on EVula's talkpage, it made my hair stand up. You explained it, I said I believe you, and agree to dustbin it, meaning my concern. You and I have disagreed a lot lately it seems on different issues (Kurt's ACC access, Dweller's rfb). No biggie, it happens. After my last post there, you then had an extended convo with TRM that I know nothing about, and I'm assuming that you and he can work out your difference. Keeper ǀ 76 15:09, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, what was this all about then? Ryan Postlethwaite 02:06, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Replied there. Keeper ǀ 76 18:31, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Spam

Could you help with this FAC? Thanks, --I'm an Editorofthewiki 02:00, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

you mean I didn't screw it up badly enough the first time? What do you need help with? Keeper ǀ 76 18:36, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Comments, etc. You did a lot of great work, Keeper, on this article, besides bastardizing the dashes. :) The weirest thing is, (this has nothing to with the FAC) I was just checkusered for being a sock of User:Kitia! The results, of course, turned up stale, as I imagine he and I had the same changing IP, but the accuser =turned out to be a sock of someone else! Weird.

This is entitled "spam". You may chose not to listen to my venting, or follow the FAC for that matter.--I'm an Editorofthewiki 03:46, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

I'll follow the FAC, have it watchlisted, read it briefly. I'm not sure what needs to be done to the article at this point that a non-subject matter expert (me) can fix, but I'll pop a comma here or there if I see it. Thanks for the note Kitia, er I mean Editor....Keeper ǀ 76 14:51, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Miracle at Camden Yards?

so much for Miracle on 34th Street, I much preferred today's miracle. Pavano gets a win in his first start since April 2007. Hell, Pavano starts? :o Speaks volumes that they brought him up over Hughes. I agree with that decision. That said, Lester shelled again? What's happening to the Sox pitching in recent weeks? That's not very Sox-esque. TravellingCari 05:29, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

When to see Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees last nite. Chase Wright pitches 7 shutout innings, yet Pavano gets the start? I feel like a stranger on this planet. Shapiros10 My work 13:28, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Lucky - I want to see a Scranton game. Haven't made it yet. Chase Wright wasn't in the cards for this start, I remember reading somewhere they wanted to give him some time and not rush. I think Pavano will get another start, he earned it. TravellingCari 18:48, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
It's worth the trip. But if the next person who screws up will be replaced by either Wright or Alfredo Aceves (giving Jason Jones time to go back to AAA). Shapiros10 My work 19:28, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Not according to the game I'm listening to -- they just interviewed Girardi and Cashman who said we won't see Wright until late September, at best. What I see is another long reliever coming up to extend the bullpen -- though there is an off day tomorrow which would help. TravellingCari 19:53, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
I meant a young starter bombing. Shapiros10 My work 20:04, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Hahaha, that's excellent. That said, I've also extracted some amusement from this by taking phrases I don't understand such as "a long reliever coming up to extend the bullpen" to be some kind of crude sexual euphemism. ;) ~ mazca 21:05, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Endurance down the stretch is another easily twisted, but I'll try to keep this clean for Sam. And no worries Mazca, I felt the same whilst living in Australia and trying to understand AFL, Rugby and Cricket. I spent some time in Darwin during the Ashes and our common area was "divided" between Australia and England fans -- I asked for the "who gives a damn" section. TravellingCari 21:23, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

<--No need to keep it clean. I know many sexual euphemisms. Shapiros10 My work 21:24, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

And if you spent much time around me you'd know a lot more, heh. On the topic of baffling baseball terminology, I agree that cricket is at least as bad for it - I'd have been tempted to just respond to this thread with some cricket babble if I could honestly say I understood that either. ;) ~ mazca 21:28, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
I wonder what the limit is on "back and forth" replies between two editors before they realize that the person's talkpage that they are using isn't involved in the convo. :-). and you know I don't mind a bit, or edit weekends :-). And Mazca, I understood every word they said, enlightening conversation, its just too bad it's "all for not" because the yankee season will be over and done with at the end of september while the good teams continue play into October. I don't care who they call up, send down, reassign, release, trade, or develop. Too little, too late. Keeper ǀ 76 14:18, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
LMAO, think of it as a welcome back present for this morning. You really think the White Sox are going to fall out of it? The issue with Yankees/Boston/Tampa is how often we're playing one another -- it's like that old game of Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. I know we also play the Pale Hose but by then I think it will be decided or very close. Nice to have meaningful games going down the stretch. I will not count out the Yankees until they're mathematically eliminated, and you wouldn't expect anything less. TravellingCari 15:00, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Damn Brits and Aussies degrading our fine sport into sexual innuendos. Of course, at least baseball has innuendos. And innuendo sounds like an innuendo. Nevertheless, soccer is too boring to have them. OrangeMarlin 17:27, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Suspicious WP:AN notice

I find it very suspicious that I'm notifying you of this, but you've been nominated for blocking (and likely removal of your aministrator title) on this AN thread: . Signed, Bercude (talk) 23:56, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

If Keeper is blocked and desysopped because of that report, I'll eat every object I own (with tomato ketchup)! John Sloan (talk) 00:10, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
If I were Keeper I'd accept a block and desysop at this point provided video evidence of the above-mentioned object eating was provided. ~ mazca 00:14, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
If keeper is desysoped over that, I'll nominate myself for an RfA, say CDB's are ok during the nomination, win, delete Jimbo's userpage, eat all my shoes and get my bit removed. Fin. Protonk (talk) 00:32, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Man, oh man...go to the coast for one day and miss all the fun around here!  Frank  |  talk  12:48, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
I will definitely volunatarily desysop this account if I were provided a video showing John Sloan eating his camcorder. With ketchup. Keeper ǀ 76 14:13, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
If he only has one, the video might get suddenly red and blurry, then get inexplicably cut off... Jclemens (talk) 17:17, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Hence the ironicalness of my post. You see, I have no interest in voluntarily desysopping myself, so I thought, hmmm, what could Sloan eat first with ketchup? A-ha! Keeper ǀ 76 17:19, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Ironicalness? Irony is the word. What do they teach you up there in glacier country? Based on your Minnesota language skills, I propose that you should be desysopped immediately. And of course, ketchup is a fine spice for you Minnesoooooootans. OrangeMarlin 17:25, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Ironicalness was typed for its simple dramaticalness. A homage (we northerners pronounce that HOM-edge -- HOM rhymes with Bomb) to one of my faves. Keeper ǀ 76 17:31, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

<out> Did I forget to tell everyone here that I don't own a camcorder? -- Well I don't :p Not that i'd ever want Keeper to desysop anyway, what would all us admin stalkers do with our time!? :D John Sloan (talk) 17:52, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Bulgarian Center for Not-For-Profit Law

COuld you ask somebody to make the decision to close this AFD. The snowball outcome looks obvious to me. As I expanded the article perhaps you could ask somebody else you know to close it for neutrality purposes. Such as Miss Cari.. The Bald One 18:14, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

I just closed it. A unanimous decision, hardly controversial. But it does have some problems that can be fixed, as do 98.9% of the rest of our articles...Keeper ǀ 76 18:19, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

WP:RPP help

Sorry to keep bothering you Keeper, but could you please handle my request to have the talk page of the above troll/sockpuppet, User:Yianni Dreamboat, protected? - Thanks John Sloan (talk) 21:30, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Nah, let RFPP work this one out. No need to post here for this. I wouldn't want you to get accused of forum shopping. Please know, I'm not accusing you of forum shopping, but once something has already been brought to the appropriate venue, posting here doesn't make it go any faster, nor should it. Cheers, Keeper ǀ 76 21:32, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

WP:OR question

It's kinda hard to work up the stones to ask for help here, seeing as how this page gets more viewers than the olympics (probably more participants too) and if I'm in the wrong, it's gonna be pretty gosh darn public. But, when I think "common sense" you're the first admin that comes to mind. I'm being reverted at Resident Evil: Degeneration for adding the line "The trailer also suggests an encounter with a creature showing signs of G-Virus mutations, similar to those of William Birkin from Resident Evil 2." having it labeled as OR.

If memory serves, you're a 30-ish baseball fan with a wife and kid, so I don't expect you to know much about video games. No offense. :-) But, basically, what I'm putting into the article says that this has similar symptoms to this from the end of this trailer where you can see it better. I'm not asking you to take any action, I'm just wondering if you'd consider it OR or not.--KojiDude 21:49, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Regardless of my age, marital status, kid status, or otherwise, I know nothing about video games. Probably because I had a life right up until the exact point that I discovered Misplaced Pages, about a year ago. Leaving this one to the stalkers, for Koji's benefit...Keeper ǀ 76 21:52, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
From a cursory glance (while I like video games, I don't like Resident Evil very much) it rather looks like OR to me - you're reaching a conclusion based on your own analysis of screenshots, trailers, etc. I might be missing something here, but it sounds to me like the kind of conclusion that needs a source. ~ mazca 22:07, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, the major symptoms/mutations of the G-Virus are the eye-like tumor, extra appendages, and the crude skull where the head is supposed to be (easier to see in the first picture). From observation, the creature at the end of the trailer shows all of those. I'm pretty sure I've worded the sentence so that it doesn't state anything as fact, but instead just notes the similarities. I'm not sure it's something I can source, but it seems more like a common-sense observation than original thought.--KojiDude 22:15, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
If you can't source it, then it's OR. QED. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 22:19, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh, c'mon now Malleus, don't you go "making sense" and all. If you continue to "make sense", how else will you grow your blocklog??? Keeper ǀ 76 22:23, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
My blocklog is quite big enough already I've decided. ;-) --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 22:25, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Heh. You've got nothing compared to yer co-nominator.  :-) If you work hard, and continue to insist that the encyclopedia is more important than the encyclopedia's politics, you'll get there someday....god. I can't believe I'm giving That Admin that Is Not to be Named a diff. He's convinced that I've made you worse, convinced that I, and others, are the reason you've been blocked. If I were in your timezone, I'd spit. Keeper ǀ 76 22:29, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
That Admin that is Not to be Named is a vindictive, malevolent, dishonest piece of shit that I would be embarrassed to find on the sole of my shoe. Strange, I had a sense of déja vu when writing that ... --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 22:47, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Malleus, you know I'm on your side with that, and agree with every single one of those adjectives. However, please don't let it "taint" your view of Misplaced Pages though. You like this place, regardless of its warts (and he's a wart, no doubt). Don't let him win. Let him continue to expertly edit articles, and non-expertly be an admin. It shouldn't/wont' affect you. He won't show up on your talk, you shouldn't visit his either. There are several editors that I personally avoid so that I don't get too angry at this place and so that I continue to enjoy it. Be that way, please? He shoulda been blocked. If he shows up with the same harassing comments, I meant what I said on his talkpage. I'll block him, and personally suffer the "ANI/AN" consequences for blocking another "admin". Don't let him win. You still have things you want to accomplish here, articles that you want to be proud of. Don't let him win.... Keeper ǀ 76 22:56, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
No worries, I've been avoiding him for some time now, and I'll continue to do the same. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 23:06, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Anyone really like cars?

RM Classic Car Auction

Exactly. "Scooters" do not work well where I live, or where I commute to from where I live. Never will, being "midwestern" and all. Or "y'all", whichever floats yer boat. I'm also increasingly curious how your brain is pronouncing Wayzata, btw....Keeper ǀ 76 22:12, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Scooters, ah the memories they bring back.

I need a couple of really important favors!

But before I ask you for those favors, I need to know if its possible to reset a password once its been seeded/scrambled? John Sloan (talk) 00:56, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Only if the account has an email address associated with it, otherwise there's no way back in. If it does, head to Special:UserLogin, enter the username and click "E-mail new password". Sorry, I'll get off Keeper's page now :/ Alex Muller 11:38, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I was hoping for some salvage from it, but if a scramble can't be fixed, it can't be fixed! Since its lost, can it also be creation protected? - Again, many thanks for all your wonderful help! John Sloan (talk) 14:21, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
It's fully protected now as well, meaning until you pass an RFA, you, or any non-admin, won't be able to recreate it. If you want it to be a redirect again so someone from an old conversation can find you, let me know - I can make it a "protected" redirect. Keeper ǀ 76 14:32, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

you told me to ask if i needed help. there is an article i want to create, one on a kid called daniel pacheco, a 17 year old liverpool soccer player, and when i go to make it, is says it is under protection, so i cannot, and i want to be able to create it so i request for unprotection, and when im on that page i do not understand actually how to request, can you explain how to me, thankyou skippy11 also mate i also want to create an article on a guy called Stephen Darby, a Liverpool Soccer player in the first team and he should have an article. how exactly can i create an article, because i type stephen darby in and it gets redirected, then i click search and let it load and then type it in, and it comes up with like 200 suggestions but no way to create an article, thankyou, Skippy11 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Skippy11 (talkcontribs) 07:28, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Hmm. I agree that one is borderline, I should've declined the speedy deletion. I'm not convinced that they are notable enough for Misplaced Pages, but the article did at least assert that they were. Apologies for that JAF, I went too fast. I've userfied the article at User:JAF1970/Little Boy Games, is there anything else that can be added to it to expand it beyond the stub that it is? WP:AN3 request for talk page stalkers with the bit

Hey, I reported a user for violating the three revert rule last night and there still isn't a resolution over at the 3RR noticeboard. I know this isn't the admin help desk, but I figured someone with phenomenal cosmic powers could tidy this one up. Since 3RR blocks are ostensibly to prevent damage from edit warring, the window has kind of passed. Perhaps, closing it without a block but placing a warning on his talk page acknowledging that he was edit warring? Protonk (talk) 15:06, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

I was just looking into this, looks like User:Stifle summed it up nicely. I don't like "protected pages" of what are ostensibly "current" articles (meaning things can change, sources can improve, what have you), but it is what it is. I'm very much looking forward to the election being over. If I see one more ANI thread that has "Obama" in it....Keeper ǀ 76 15:29, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Don't worry, then we'll have the November/December "ZOMG, the election was a conspiracy" articles. Protonk (talk) 15:36, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I don't think I can personally survive another Bush v Gore - at least not survive as an admin/editor. Can you imagine the page history of that article had that event actually happened during Misplaced Pages's existence? I shudder....Keeper ǀ 76 15:42, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Dude, if something like that happens in this election, we may actually have to, for the first time, revert every edit made on the entire site back to a certain time period. Either that, or full-protect every page that even remotely involves the election, or America in general. Jdelanoy 15:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
No way, maaaaan. You're just trying to hide the truth! you can't censor us! We should just ignore all rules and replace the 2008 elections page with a message about how we are all controlled by corporations. SHEEEEPLE!......*shudder* Protonk (talk) 16:00, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

This user needs to be blocked immediately. He is stalking our good friend Blofeld's uploads. See the image rationale at Image:Soe Win2.jpg and decide for yourself. And yet, he submitted an IFD report here. He is refusing to communicate with Blofeld other than templated messages. He is even making fun of Blofeld's (admittingly) bad spelling at Misplaced Pages:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Copywright Paranoia, which is simply Blofeld's essay on why it is wrong. --I'm an Editorofthewiki 20:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Right off the bat, I don't see anything that is "blockable" persay (admins have their hands cuffed in many ways that editors don't fully appreciate). I'll look into it EotW, really I will. I've got about 2 hours online here today. Keeper ǀ 76 21:01, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

(inserted comment) Keeper, it is per se, not persay. :D KillerChihuahua 21:41, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

ah, silly murderous puppy. I was hoping no one would catch that. You need to immediately add yourself to the top thread of this talkpage titled "a simple request", you talkpage stalker...Keeper ǀ 76 21:46, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
no, if I type very small, no one will notice and it doesn't count. Really. KillerChihuahua 13:12, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Keeper, mind pawning this off to an uninvolved admin who does email, I'm involved, but there is some stuff worth hearing privately. MBisanz 21:03, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
By all means, MBisanz. By all means. Email whomever you wish, and receive emails from whomever you wish, or delegate, or whatever (any volunteers with image experience??? Giggy, are you still out there???) I'll simply be reading and checking on-wiki histories. I won't post anywhere in regards to this issue for 24-48 hours, to let the email "trail" come to some sort of fruition, if necessary. Keeper ǀ 76 21:07, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
  • This seems to be a followup to the mass IfD for FU images that Damiens did earlier. Blofeld took issue with the nominations and a back and forth has ensued. I'm not sure who added the troll pictures and wikilinks to his page, but that doesn't seem to be the work of users pure as the driven snow. also, Editor, are you planning on letting him know he's being discussed here? Protonk (talk) 21:10, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
This isn't an "official" noticeboard. EotW came here for an opinion, from an admin, and is under no obligation to "let Damien know" about it. Keeper ǀ 76 21:11, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
(ec) We just need to get this user to stop harassing Blofeld. If anybody, he would know about imae/image licensing since he attended a class in it. (He got bored and did not receive a certificate or anything, but still...) Blocking may be only one mechanism. Reply to Protonk Yes, I plan on telling Blofeld about this right after I post this. Reply to Keeper This isn't an official noticeboard? Strange... :) --I'm an Editorofthewiki 21:14, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I know there isn't an official requirement, but it seems unfair to talk about someone and not give them a heads up. Protonk (talk) 21:24, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
But I talk about you all the time! Would you like a notice next time? :-) Keeper ǀ 76 21:28, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Nevermind, free image found, move on with your lives. --I'm an Editorofthewiki 21:25, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Does this solve the underlying issues? Are there underlying issues? Let me (or User:MBisanz via email) know! Keeper ǀ 76 21:28, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Being a prior involved editor, I doubt it solves the underlying issues, just before anyone does something drastic, like blocking the fellow, I'd appreciate a ping or something (just a request, not a demand) because there are other facts to the situation. MBisanz 21:35, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
No worries, MBisanz, I won't be blocking anyone over this anytime soon, Damiens included. And unless you decide to block someone, I can't imagine anyone getting blocked. I have no idea what's going on here, I don't know the "other facts", nor do I want to. Another example of exactly why I do not want, and never will have, email enabled. I just don't care enough about this place, and I am simply not paid enough to motivate me. Cheers! Keeper ǀ 76 21:37, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

No I don't think he qualifies for a block which wouldn't solve anything in the long term other than temporarily giving me some peace as he equally believed he was doing what was right even if he is going about it the wrong way by picking on isolated images rather than on our general policy. However, one thing's for sure I don't like the thought of this editor watching every move I make and being there to delete things within minutes of uploading. Five or six deletions in just a few days and half of them withing minutes of uploading seems inappropriate. The Bald One 21:43, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

It certainly never feels good to feel "watched", I agree, and I find it unfortunate that (on first impression) it appears that damien is watching your every move. I hope that's not the case, because that would be a perfect example of trolling/stalking. He thinks he's right though, as you said, whether he is or not is "up for grabs". Personally I feel he is over-zealous and a bit legalistic. Again though, that's a first impression, I haven't dug deep enough. Keep doing what you do best though baldy, don't worry about the wiki-police (you never have, why start now???). This place would be exponentially dumber without you here, don't let a little straw break your back. Keeper ǀ 76 21:50, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I've found that you get used to the wiki-police watching your every move, so I agree with Keeper. Keep on doing what you keep on doing Blofeld. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 21:59, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks guys. What concerns me is that I've spent the last hour trying to find out exactly what he thinks is a valid rationale when I could have created 50 new Nepal town articles by now! I don't think he realises what I do on here and thinks I have time to fuss. I understand he is concerned about non free content and respect for payment of images but he still hasn't explained why he thinks certain images are not acceptable. Even if I had added every respect to the copywright under the sun and reasons why we are permitted to use it he would have rmeoved it. This Wiki-lawyering is so time consuming. At least I found a free image in that circumstance. I sincerely hope i can log in tomorrow and not see 10 new images up for the chop as I won't be best pleased. Kitia

He's not me. Kitia took the disruptive approach to editing, while I try to be as civil as possible in all situations. Kitia never wrote anything major, while I have 1 FA, 2 FACs, and 5 Gas to my name. It's just a coincidence. I have followed Kitia's edits since I encountered him in the DRV, so I found out about his involvement in supercentenarian-related articles. I decided I wanted to give it a better image than a project that produced many blocks (Ryoung122 (indef), Bart Versieck (many times) and NealIRC (a month (later) but never returned)) so I wrote Lazare Ponticelli, who had recently died, as an experiment. Eventually I decided to work on other things, but I do plan to return to the project someday. I also have a feeling that the user that has been vandalising my userpage is part of the sock system that accused me in the first place. --I'm an Editorofthewiki 22:05, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind words. Sometimes I do use this as my ANI as it is much more lighthearted than the regular one, hence the above posting! And because you are THE BEST admin I have yet encountered. I undertand that myspacing is incurable, but still.... --I'm an Editorofthewiki 22:26, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Heh, I'm about the most "myspacey" admin that you could find. :-). There is no way possible that I would pass an "RFA" in today's environment. I passed through relatively unscathed in a cold, dreary January week, 2008. I wouldn't pass today. Glad you find me to be "the best", I would dispute that claim however. :-) I don't do "article building", other than the random copyediting/CSd salvage job, but still, your opinion is heartwarming and appreciated. :) Keeper ǀ 76 22:32, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a deletion review of SocialPicks. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. lifebaka++ 00:54, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Foot editor?

I know there was something on AN/ANI of late about a foot obsessed editor but I cannot for the life of me figure out these posts to my talk. I asked, but the answer didn't make much sense. Anyone make heads or tales of this? I'm guessing an alt account of someone, other than the one declared, but I haven't the foggiest. Other than having two attached to my ankles (cue, foot bone connected to the ankle bone...) I have no interest in feet. Help? TravellingCari 03:35, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

User_talk:Spartaz#calling_attention This may help. Protonk (talk) 03:38, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
thanks, suppose I may have blocked one of those. Can't be assed looking, though. Is it horrid that I'm hoping this one does something blockable to make it go away? o:) TravellingCari 03:47, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
scanned my log, not in the last 1000 edits going back to July 18th. Oh well. Thanks! TravellingCari 03:48, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Not if you don't think it is horrible that I have to resist the urge to block (as if I have the tools here) whenever I see someone acting “hinky" like that. Protonk (talk) 03:51, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Football

I know Keeper & Co. are into baseball, but are any of the TPSers football fans? If so, who's your team? I'm a die-hard, paint-my-face-every-Sunday Detroit Lions fan. This means you must feel sorry for me. Tan ǀ 39 03:40, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

College ball here, mainly. Can't wait--it's almost here. Sorry about Detroit.  :) Antandrus (talk) 03:44, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, you didn't watch your state have weeks of apoplexy over a retired quarterback who should have faded off into the distance and have to join a team where he might look young by comparison. Protonk (talk) 03:44, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm a hometown girl, influenced by having met a "star" when I was in fifth grade and then a bunch of others when they came to play a charity game at my high school. And no, pre-season play doesn't worry me. Losing Osi does, but I think it's surmountable. TravellingCari 03:45, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

This is a baseball page until I say it isn't. Baseball until October, then 2-4 weeks of intense emotional despondence, then Thanksgiving - a holiday designed to increase levels of intense emotional despondence by adding family and fatty foods to it. Then a football game (I always watch the Detroit one tan, never the pretty boys), then I enjoy football. I'm pretty sure I'm a Vikings fan, but that gets weaker and weaker every year. Last year, I very much enjoyed watching them collapse - it's so predictable. Keeper ǀ 76 14:12, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Your comment

I will tell you straight out that I would never contribute here but for the fact that it wikipedia is used so widely. I have never seen such a group of hostile and narrow minded people, and there is something toxic in how being an editor affects some people, and expecially administrators. This is dangerously close to an online asylum.

First off, "Mystical 7", seven is a number. "Mystical Seven", seven is a collective noun. Entirely different concepts. That's it. There's nothing you or I can do to change it.

Second, I have never threatened anybody. I do not write things like "keep it up and you'll get blocked", "You're about to get it" or anything of the kind. I never have. Those are threats. Those other clowns posted garbage like that all the time. And it's not like I am scared of them, but I get ad hominem threats from them and argue content back. The fact that you and they were allowed to get off another round of baseless attacks before the conversation was shut off is a little annoying.

Today, these two rolled across the topic and start an edit war about a topic, I can guarantee, that they have no idea what they're talking about, and who, it is clear from their posts, they haven't read even what's been posted on these pages at wikipedia. I can't be responsible for their stupidity.

But they're not the issue. They're effectively the equivalent of static. And that's the problem. Everything here is static. It's silent, but the whole place is raging with static. It's an encyclopedia edited by the stupidest half-drunk louts in any bar.

And, let's say you're reasonable and intelligent and sensible. If so, I feel sorry for you, because all I did was glance at your user page, and it's clear that you've been spending way too many hours building sand castles. Unless you're a homebound invalid, and this is all you can do, then you're wasting your time. It's still August, go outside and see the moon rise or something.Thaïs Alexandrina (talk) 03:58, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

  • You are the first person, ever, to come to an online forum in order to tell someone that they are wasting their time on an online forum. Gratz. Protonk (talk) 04:00, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Also the first person ever to try to convince me that "7" is different than "seven". That's a first. I mean 1st. As for the rest of your rant, you are absolutely 100% correct in your assumptions about me. To use your words, I'm "reasonable, intelligent, sensible, sorry, homebound, invalid, half-drunk, hostile, narrow-minded and a little annoying". All very true. Except the half-drunk. I'm actually ½-drunk. Keeper ǀ 76 14:09, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
"That's a first. I mean 1st." I lol'd. GlassCobra 14:20, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

"the first person ever to try to convince me that `7` is different than `seven`", I can't speak to the literary quality of the circles you run in. In "The Magnificent Seven" it's clear that the number 7 is not considered magnificent, but the saeven members are, in "Ocean's Eleven", is the number 11 Ocean's? Or his eleven friends? In the Mystical 7, it IS the number being referred to, not some seven people. Thaïs Alexandrina (talk) 14:21, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
