* '''Comment''' - Yes, Buckshot actively tried to stop me from improving coverage of the Eastern Front articles by insisting that I use English common names for article titles rather than the actual names of the operations. In this he succeeded because I have now stopped adding to those articles and that entire range of articles, notably after Buckshot insisted on using a single source created by a Nazi criminal and translated into English by another convicted Holocaust denier rather than using translations from Russian. Buckshot's idea of consensus is to get n administrator to heavy-headedly block editors who insist on providing references, and no doubt he will be able to do so now himself. Buckshot for example organised a party of editors to change a title of an article from one fictitious name to another after he was forced to admit he was wrong after contact with the author. Mrg3105 (me) is not single-minded, and is not against Consensus as such, however, he is single-minded about any additions to articles being supported by some reputable source, and is against straw polls which Buckshot seems to enjoy. Mrg3105 could not give a damn about the "community editing restriction" and is only "behaving" himself because he is not editing in the area he intended to edit in the first place. As for the prior blocks, they were unwarranted, and I would say the same things had I been given a second consideration because they were true. Mrg3105 does not accept or need Misplaced Pages behaviour modification therapy, and can easily prove it by returning to the same area of editing he was banished from by administrative action.

* '''Comment''' - Buckshot's record shows he is a fairly weak editor, not having contributed that many articles, his edits being more in the maintenance than substantive expansions, and his prior participation in disputes being coercive. However, given he can't edit, administrative tools would be useful for him to do other more mundane tasks--] (]) ♠♥♦♣ 03:41, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Admin

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?

A: I do a lot of low-profile tedious 'grunt' work, category creation for example, following on from the patterns that have been set before. Cleaning up stubs, XFD, etc. I hope that the admin tools will increase my effectiveness in this work, and as I get more familiar, I'll hope to start contributing more widely. I'll stay mainly within WP:MILHIST, as I have done, unless I have specific familiarity with an issue.

 • Comment - Actually Buckshot does what is commonly describes as being gnomish, i.e. spelling mistakes and such. Grunt work (as in what infantry does on daily basis during operations) is actually participating in wide-ranging creation and contribution to articles including their expansion and referencing, which is not within the record of Buckshot's activity.

2. What are your best contributions to Misplaced Pages, and why?

A: I've tried to focus my work on militaries that are not covered by our US-heavy systematic bias. I've got two articles to featured status, Russian Ground Forces and Military of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with much help by others, but have made hundreds of edits to other lesser-known militaries, like Liberia, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Iraq, Iran (like 92nd Armored Division) as well as creating all the Russian military districts (bar two), all the Chinese military regions, and a large number of Russian army and division articles, plus the main list articles List of Armies of the Soviet Union and Divisions of the Soviet Union 1917-1945. Within the MILHIST project I contribute regularly to policy discussions - I suggested the Top Ten Team, though there had been earlier discussions on the subject - and do grunt work, trying to clean up Category:Military stubs and Category:Military history articles with no associated task force. I've created numerous categories to order our collection of military unit articles and done a good deal of work on U.S. and British units as well, notably current British infantry brigades.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

A: Previously I've been involved in several very minor conflicts, and one major, long-running dispute, over the actions of user:Mrg3105 (in common with dozens of other editors). Mrg is extremely single-minded, and does not believe much in WP:Consensus. I tried to remain civil and rational, pretty successfully I believe, and sort things out in cooperation with other editors, often including the coordinators of the WP:MILHIST project. Mrg3105 has now been given several blocks, and is now under a community editing restriction, and is behaving himself. Since he was placed under that restriction I've had no further conflicts with him.
