WPSD-TV, also known by its slogan Newschannel 6, is an NBC affiliate based in Paducah, Kentucky. It is owned by Paxton Media Group, a locally based family-run publishing company that also owns the city's daily newspaper, The Paducah Sun. WPSD debuted on the air on May 28, 1957. The "PSD" stands for Paducah Sun-Democrat, the former name of the Sun. Sam Champion who is now a popular weatherman at New York City's WABC and an occasional replacement on Good Morning America got his start at WPSD.
The station is part of the Paducah-Cape Girardeau-Harrisburg TV market and covers far western Kentucky, Southern Illinois, southeastern Missouri and northwestern Tennessee.
