Controversy
On May 25, 2008, Trotta expressed on Fox News an apparent desire that presidential candidate Barack Obama be assassinated prior to the 2008 United States presidential election. while speaking about Hillary Rodham Clinton's reference to Robert F. Kennedy's assassination:
"... and now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama. Um, uh, Osama. Well, both, if we could."
Trotta apologized the next day. A petition for the sacking of Trotta was soon up on Care2
On 5 October 2008, Trotta referred to Sarah Palin's downs syndrome baby as an inanimate object: "... "dragging it around", insinuating that Palin was using her baby to garner sympathy. This drew outrage from parents and viewers.
