Plot
While on his way to buy groceries, Peter instead buys a brain damaged horse which not only creeps everyone out, but also causes proficient damage when Peter enters it in a race. The horse ends up dying of a fatal heart attack and Peter disposes of the body by flinging it into the wall of Mort Goldman's pharmacy. However, that still leaves the Griffins in debt to the damage the horse caused. To make money, Peter gets a second job as a test subject for medical experiments, being injected with various genes to see their effects, including the gay gene.
Lois is initially upset, especially when she learns that the effects of the experiment may be permanent, but she warms up to Peter when he begins providing his family better with constant shopping and cooking; of course, things take a turn for the worse when Peter naturally rejects her sexual advances. Peter ends up leaving Lois for a gay man named Scott. Seeing Lois heartbroken, Stewie and a reluctant Brian attempt to bring Peter back to normal by sending him to a straight camp. When Scott comes over looking for Peter, Brian admits his actions. Lois states that she is willing to accept Peter the way he is and takes him out of the straight camp, telling him to go back to Scott. However, the effects of the gay gene wear off right when Peter is in the middle of an orgy with Scott and nine other gay men. Peter returns to Lois, and they decide to never speak of the incident again. Just when they assume things will go back to normal, Mort flings the body of Peter's dead horse through the wall of their house.
Previous Episode Reference
When Peter & Lois crash their car into Cleveland's house and make him crash his bathtub onto the ground, they reference the gag where Cleveland's bathtub crashes with him in it. This would make this episode the 4th episode to use it, following Hell Comes to Quahog, Barely Legal and Tales of a Third Grade Nothing.
Cultural References
Peter riding his horse without legs, passing through flames and crashing to a wall is a direct reference to the arcade game Dragon's Lair.
After "straight" camp, Peter becomes part of the male chorus that sings "The French Mistake" from Blazing Saddles.
