Ros Bates is an Australian politician. She was elected to the seat of Mudgeeraba on March 21 2009 at the Queensland State Election. She is a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland.
Bates was the Liberal candidate for the seat in 2006. Prior to entering politics, Bates spent 25 years in the health profession. Starting her career as a nurse in both the public and private sector, she became the General Manager and Director of Nursing at the Wesley Gold Coast Hospital. Recently, Bates served as a Government and Media consultant. In this role she was able to achieve positive outcomes for many through the National Task Force on Colon Cancer, the National Task Force on Childhood Obesity and through the Life Saving Drugs Program.
Her contribution to health have resulted in her being awarded the Prime Ministers Centenary of Federation Medal (2001) , the Royal Australian College of Nursing's Distinguished Service Award (Qld Division), and was awarded Telstra Business Woman of the Year (AusIndustry category).
Bates has three children, Ben (22), Greg (20) and Jill (17).
