Poke
I seem to recall asking you before my last wikibreak...
Still interested? : ) - jc37 20:05, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, still interested. Thanks. Vegaswikian (talk) 22:33, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ok.
- And you have my sincere apologies for it taking so long (the wikibreak and such). I've found a draft of my nomination statement. If I haven't updated you about it in the next few days, don't only drop me a note, have kbdank (et al) help you with the cattle prod : ) - jc37 09:55, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- Seriously, it doesn't have to be a big deal if you don't let it, and the tools are very useful. You'd be great. Go for it. Doczilla STOMP! 09:17, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, I said yes. Vegaswikian (talk) 09:21, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- At this point, I've asked Black Falcon for a bit of help, and also asked him and Kbdank to co-nom.
- Note that Kbdank declined (see his talk page), and is leaving it up to you if you think it would be a positive thing.
- Is there anyone else that you think might wish to co-nom? (In RfA, most do not like to see more than 3-4 co-noms, but my experience with RfB is that a few more than that is acceptable, and possibly even preferable.)
- At this point, I think you may wish to check out some past RfBs (if you haven't already) to see what you may be in for. And since it's been awhile since we first discussed this, perhaps double check that you're up on everything involved with being a Bureaucrat (user-rights, potential responsibilities, etc.)
- Also, there have been some recent proposals involving bureaucrats, you may wish to check them out in case you're asked questions about your opinion of them.
- Well, I suppose that's enough "homework" for now : ) - jc37 20:47, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- I'm going to beg off for a while. I did do more research and it looks like if you don't participate in RfA discussions you have issues. So I guess I'll need to spend some time there before this can move forward. And right now I simply don't have the time to spare. Sorry. Vegaswikian (talk) 01:49, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. While I'm disappointed, I fully understand, and agree. You might also become a bit fluent in Misplaced Pages:Changing username.
- Incidentally, check out Black Falcon's talk page. I endorse everything he said there about you.
- My (re-written - since he covered quite a few points I was saying originally) nomination was about how you amazingly tend to sidestep drama, and how you just exceedingly come across as an "adult". (A hard word to define, since I don't mean anything which has to do with one's age.)
- Anyway, if you're ever up for any additional tools, please let me know. - jc37 02:04, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the positive comments. Yes, I do happen to be an adult, but I'm still learning how to really be one. In my real life I get to deal with people who may not be happy with the actions I have to take, and that makes you aware of the need to frequently walk on egg shells. Vegaswikian (talk) 02:16, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- If that's something you enjoy, you might check out OTRS. My understanding is that they're always looking for more help. - jc37 02:44, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

WIN-T Misplaced Pages page
Hello. My name is Paul Wein and I work for the Strategic Communications Team for the US Army at Fort Monmouth, NJ. I am the one who put up the WIN-T Page. The information that was on that page was written by myself and my team and cleared for public release by the Army's Public Affairs Officer. There is no copyright infringement as it was created by us for public consumption.
Please return the page to what it was. If you need further clarification, I can be reached at paul.wein@us.army.mil
Thank you.

Category satellites removed from geostationary orbit
Why did you remove the category Satellites from geostationary orbit? Please answer here or in Talk:Geostationary_orbit, I am watching both --Pot (talk) 12:46, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- As the edit comment stated, I removed it as an included category. Category:Satellites is a parent of Category:Geostationary orbit. So by being included in Category:Geostationary orbit, it rolls up into an appropriate place in Category:Satellites. Since you apparently are involved in orbit articles, maybe you can answer something for me. In looking at other articles on orbits, there appears to be significant overlap between Category:Orbits and Category:Earth orbits. I guess my question is, is there any reason why the orbits listed in Category:Earth orbits, can not be used on any other body in space? If they can, then one wonders if that is a proper way to use categories. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:21, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your clarification, I am relatively new to Misplaced Pages so I had not understood you edit comment.
- As for your question, I am not an orbit expert, however I see that Category:Earth orbits in fact lists topics that are relevant to Earth, while Category:Orbits is more general, listing generic topics and topics that apply to N-body systems with N greater than 1. While I do not know which is the best way to handle this in Misplaced Pages, I find the current distinction more instructive than having a single category. --Pot (talk) 12:28, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Vegas categories
I was planning to nominate them as "Las Vegas, Nevada" to specifically include the Strip in the category descriptions (that is, "Las Vegas" would mean Las Vegas and adjoining unincorporated areas in Clark County). But if you would prefer to preempt that by nominating them yourself as the "Las Vegas metropolitan area," go ahead. Either way, we can politely propose different solutions, and our fellow editors can choose which they like best. Though I prefer one approach over the other, I can be happy with any resolution that knocks these categories of the list of those needing conversion.--Mike Selinker (talk) 01:06, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy tagging
Hi there. I know you are an admin but we all make mistakes: I declined three of your taggings so far today, all of them were A7 taggings for buildings. Please remember that buildings are not covered by A7 and as such cannot be speedy deleted. You need to use WP:PROD or WP:AFD instead. Regards SoWhy 11:13, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
