Chief of Staff General Valiollah Fallahi, was a prominent figure during the Iran-Iraq war which lasted from September 1980 to August 1988. On Wednesday 30th September 1981 he died with several top commanders including Gen. Javad Fakour(Air Force Commander), Gen. Kolah Douz( Acting Commander of the Revolutionary Guards),Brig. Gen. Seyed Musa Namju (Defence Minister) and Commander Jahanara in a plane crash that was due to land in Shiraz after take off from Tehran.
