The Hawiye tribe is one the largest Somali clans. They live mostly in central and southern Somalia. It is largely agreed that they controll Mogadishu and have broadest business in Somalia. The are descended from the Irir Samaal. Somalia Youth Leage (SYL) chairman Abdullahi Isse (1948 - 1959) was Hawiye.
