Gypsite is an unincorporated community in Kern County, California. It is located 3 miles (4.8 km) southwest of Saltdale, at an elevation of 1959 feet (597 m).
A post office operated at Gypsite from 1911 to 1912. The name recalls a nearby gypsum mine.
