I need a break. This place is driving me nuts. There's too many admins here advocating a whack-a-mole enforcement of the civility policy, some enforcing it pretty much just to bump their block count, others treating it as a holy premise to be enforced above all things, including our policies on neutral content and verifiability. Various editors at Casliber's civility poll are taking a holier-than-thou no-tolerance attitude of wanting to be rid of editors they don't think are up to snuff with civility, with no concern for who's going to write the encyclopedia. Future Perfect at Sunrise was desysopped (only temporarily, but nearly indefinitely) because he lost his temper with some nationalists who wanted to push one country's foreign policy on our aticles. "Never mind how much you do defend neutrality; you slip with the tongue enough times, we gut you" seems to be ArbCom's mentality (to be fair, there were those like Kirill, Newyorkbrad, Casliber and Carcharoth who advocated a better approach). What's really set this off, though, is Jimbo's punitive block of Bishonen and his continued refusal to concede any possibility it was a mistake. I'm not going to bother rehashing why this block was in fact a mistake; KillerChihuahua and Giano have already said it better than I can. I don't doubt Jimbo thinks what he's doing is right for the project, but I think he's fundamentally misguided on this and many other elements of the leadership of Misplaced Pages. Enforcing our civility policies with blocks is like beating someone on the head and telling them to be good. This doesn't work on adults, as most of us Wikipedians are. It's Jimbo's own increasingly heavy hand in this matter that makes me decide it's time for the break. What can you do if you don't agree with the leadership? It's not going to change because you don't like it.

For this reason, I've decided to enforce a two-week wikibreak. Here's hoping that will be long enough. In the meantime, anyone who reads this, please keep this in mind: If we achieve a nice, happy community where people always use honey-flavoured words by driving away our encyclopedia writers, we've missed the point and we've turned the place over to the POV-pushers. The encyclopedia should come first, not our social network policies. That's all.
