Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an ]! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on ] (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few ]s that exist on Misplaced Pages up to date. | |||

Hi!
I liked your article on the Munk Centre for International Studies. You do not seem to have a talk or user page, I hope you come back. Bye, --ShaunMacPherson 06:03, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Ooopese N/m you're here and making lots of wonderful contributions (I just checked your history). Welcome to Misplaced Pages, I hope you are enjoying your time here :)). Bye for now, feel free to contact me if you have questions. --ShaunMacPherson 06:06, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- (Not sure if I should post this here or on your talk page): Shaun, thanks for your welcome message. I've been tracking Misplaced Pages for several years, and have made a few anonymous edits before finally registering an account. I tend to do things quietly, and I tend not to promote myself much, which is why I don't have any info on my User and Talk pages. I may add some info in the future... Hi Mindmatrix - the problem comes from the fact that the articles were created with a semi-automated process that depended on the names of electoral districts as they appeared in lists of defunct electoral districts. Many many hundreds of such articles were created. There WERE actually several that had very similar names (differing only by a period, etc.), but there were a few that crept in that needed to be manually reconciled as you did. One thing to be very careful though is the date of creation - check to see that the earliest listed date of the two is being used. Fawcett5 23:08, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
- update - I have now done the redirect myself. Fawcett5 23:14, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation
Thank you for your note. I was going from OLGC home page and the Charity link from there but did not notice the <title>OLGC: Charity and Aboriginal Casinos</title> on that page :-O.
I was also going from the fact that the divisions really are charity/commercial in that a commercial casino can also be Aboriginal (i.e., Casino Rama). In writing, I realise that they likely label Charity casinos "and Aboriginal", in that, though the profits are donated to the Native nations, they are not true charities.
Thanks for assuming good faith and inquiring.

moved stuff
I noticed you changed the population numbers back. I did that to another community with a similar change. This person has changed over a dozen communities population numbers. I traced his source using the data and the site is unreliable, it even has a disclaimer that the population numbers are unreliable. Any way, there are a lot of incorrect population numbers on wiki now. (Unsigned comment by User:216.211.60.157)

Geography of Canada recategorization
Hey. Good job on moving some of the Geography of xxx province categories. I just wanted to leave a quick note not to totally remove all the linking categories from abandoned categories without also slapping a delete tag on them, otherwise that category will continue to hang around and might accidentally get used instead of the correct newer one. I popped a speedy delete tag on Category:British Columbia geography and a few others that you've already done. Keep up the recat! :-) --NormanEinstein 16:33, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
- Woo! Yay us. I feel so much better with those cats cleaned up. I think they were annoying me at a subconscious level. --NormanEinstein 16:49, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
Re: Kitchener-Waterloo, please be aware that Misplaced Pages has a very strict policy that every article should be filed in at least one category. I fully agree with you that Category:Geography of Ontario isn't really the best place for it, but unless you know of (or can create) a more appropriate category for it, it has to stay there until another category can be substituted; the article cannot be left without any category tags in it at all. Bearcat 29 June 2005 04:40 (UTC)
- I've figured out a new alternative for this: Category:Metropolitan areas of Canada. Bearcat 29 June 2005 23:33 (UTC)
Oak Ridges Moraine
I was just contemplating adding something to the Oak Ridges Moraine#Political action section and noticed something wrong with the first footnote there. It is numbered "6" which refers to the article by Barnett et. al. It should link to number "7," the case study by IAGLR. However, try as I may, I can't see what the problem is. Could you take a look at it, please?
BTW, I think that the References section should be re-titled Notes. A separate References section could be added with non-internet sources, if need be. Here's a recent Featured Article that shows the relationship between the Notes, References and External links sections. I will make that change. Sunray July 1, 2005 17:30 (UTC)
- Sorry for the absent link; now I can't remember which one it was. However, I've since discovered that Featured Articles can be inconstent and sometimes do not follow the Manual of Style. The guidelines relating to notes in Misplaced Pages are vague as to positioning (see Footnotes). All we know for sure is the order of other Standardized appendices. I suppose the vagueness is due to the fact that "notes" can refer to either footnotes (logically at the end of the text) or endnotes (at the end of a chapter or article). I guess we don't need both Notes and References unless there is a difference in the information. Misplaced Pages tends not to use Bibliography sections, so sometimes References doubles for that. Here's how I think we should deal with it: If a note is to be treated like a footnote, it should go in a Notes section before the standardized appendices. If footnotes are in the form of references we should put them in a References section instead of a Notes section. Does that make sense? Sunray July 8, 2005 15:22 (UTC)
That wasn't the article I had in mind, but here's a recent featured article that conforms to what I'm suggesting: Geography of India. Sunray July 9, 2005 19:17 (UTC)

Canadian regional geo-stubs
Hi - I've just deleted the redirects that were on sfd (Canada-ON-geo-stub and the like). While I was doing that I was bold and - taking on board what you and DoubleBlue said about British Columbia, I reversed the redirect so that BrColumbia-geo-stub redirects to BritishColumbia-geo-stub rather than the other way round (I'm cc:int this to DoubleBlue BTW). Nonetheless, I do welcome and appreciate invitations to edit. (I apologize if this appears harsh - it wasn't meant to be.) Mindmatrix 19:12, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
- I wasn't accusing you of being a socred or a Catholic (I'm not either, I just have an arcane interest in social crediters), I made the suggestion only on the basis of interest. Since you edited COMER, I figued you might be interested in Pilgrims. I welcome others to edits my articles as I am prone to typos, and believe that my work is usually improved by others' edits. - No sweat. You did say that it wasn't meant to be harsh, and I didn't interpret it that way. I should have chosen my words more carefully -- "accusing" is a reflection on my view of socreds, rather than a reflection of what you wrote. As the Aussies say, no wockin' furries, mate. Mind: Thank you for supporting my nomination for adminship. I am honoured that you and others think highly enough of my contributions here to support the nomination. Category:Cities in North America
I've reviewed the category creator's edit history. This is kind of circumstantial, I have to admit, but they created articles on a video store chain and a transit system; the transit system was redundantly categorized and the video chain was filed exclusively in redlinked categories that bore no relation whatsoever to Misplaced Pages naming conventions (i.e. "Video store" rather than "video stores"). Some other edits had an odd and eerily familiar feel to them; they also made unnecessary overedits to a movie theatre chain.
Long story short...I can't prove it yet, but I think there's a distinct possibility that this was yet another Fatpig special. (This would also be consistent with the inclusion of Nepean/Hull/Scarborough/etc. as cities; I distinctly remember at one time having to deal with a whole raft of Fatpig edits that referred to the "Ottawa-Hull" area.) The only thing that keeps me uncertain is that before the anon IP turned his attention to the Cities in North America category, his edits bore an almost exclusive focus on Laval, which is a bit outside of where I've learned to expect Fatpig's "expertise" to lay. Bearcat 02:11, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
- Yow. I have two theories about that:
- he forgot that he had already created an article,
- he doesn't know how to do a redirect, and thinks that articles are actually supposed to be duplicated at multiple titles.
- Bottom line: I don't think we need to discuss a merge on those two; I think we can just go ahead and do it...unless you're hoping that the merge tag will finally succeed in getting his attention, in which case I guess it's worth a shot although I'm not overly confident that he actually watches his old contributions. (If we do just go ahead with the merge, though, I'd keep the Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services title and redirect Mississauga Fire.) Bearcat 17:21, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
Oak Ridges Moraine and related articles
If you're still interested in this topic, could you copyedit my changes?
Sure, we've made an effective team in the past (though, I've noticed that you are pretty good at copyediting your own stuff--however, two minds working together are often better than two minds working separately).
I can give you some internet links and book/journal references about a specific sub-project if you have the time and inclination to do this...
Yes, (he says cautiously), I would be interested in doing some more work on this worthy topic. My time is somewhat short too these days, however, I'm going to try to schedule some regular Misplaced Pages time each day, except when I'm away.
I've updated the article Origin of the Oak Ridges Moraine. Could you give it a read when you have time, and let me know about any confusing bits. The intro is awful...
The intro was, as usual, fine--you're too modest. I've added some links and done some minor edits, including adding a bit of context. My thing with editing is always to try to make text more readable without dumbing it down too much. If you think I've gone to far in that respect, by all means let me know.
I will dive deeper into the Origins article in the next few days. I'm glad you have decided to pursue this. Sunray 18:37, September 7, 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I will tackle the ecology article (it is a subject that I have both practical experience with and one I have studied at the post-graduate level). As to the "cautiously," I would just say that. like you, life intervenes to regulate my Misplaced Pages output--though I gather you have recently gone through something that was major. That is not my case--which merely relates to the grind of day-to-day existence. Sunray 20:31, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

Quebec City-Windsor Corridor
In my understanding, the definition of "metropolitan area" has never been limited to the suburbs of a single city; a multipolar agglomeration like QC-W or BosWash, which has significant economic power over the rest of the country, is also defined as a metropolitan area. BosWash is also, strictly speaking, a large strip of distinct metropolitan cities located within a defined geographical region rather than a single metropolitan area, but it is filed within the equivalent US category. Perhaps it's all a bit Staples Thesis of me, but that's my understanding. Bearcat 18:08, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

I reverted because I thought your version was unnecessarily terse and narrow, ("contemplate") while the other was informal and broad ("you could go your whole life..." -St|eve 18:52, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
- I would suggest that "reduction" is a destructive thing to do while in the process of constructing an article. Why not make a subpage where people can work on a reduced version. Its also not clear if the magazine will keep its original word-count limits or if it can jump the piece. -St|eve 19:02, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Roads in Toronto
Just a heads up...Pemberton Avenue is probably the most ridiculously non-notable of the entire bunch. I'll give you one guess who created it. Bearcat 05:16, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
- Yep, you'd be right about that creator guess. As for your nagging feeling about Roncesvalles, I'd guess it's because the street's not all that special, but the neighbourhood centred on and named for Roncesvalles is article-worthy. But considering that there's already an article about Roncesvalles Village, I'd consider the street itself either AFDable or redirectable. In fact, I'm going to redirect it right now. Hi Mindmatrix - you're right about those articles. If they were in the Australia geographybstubs category and has the state name in the title, I didn't check the length. Torontocruft redux
Another question for you...do you suppose we really need Lower Osgoode, Lower Eglinton West and Lower Allen Allen Station? (To be fair, at least Lower Allen actually saw some construction; the Lower Osgoode article actually describes its topic as "merely a idea".) And do you suppose, upon reading that quote, that I actually need to tell you where they came from? Bearcat 09:44, 24 September 2005 (UTC)

To my mind, all of the ones you named are deletion candidates, but considering how tooth-and-nail the Ottawa contingent have gotten about the Ottawa streets that have come up so far, I think you'd better be primed for a fight if you want to take this on. (Earl even voted "keep all" on the Toronto group that included Pemberton, so I have to interpret his vote as either "didn't actually read any of them first" or "even trivial side streets are notable enough for Misplaced Pages".) Message for User:Phroziac (or any other admin)
I recently received an infinite block for apparently running a bot. Although I am currently writing a bot, it is still experimental and has not been used on Misplaced Pages yet (I've only run it on a local copy internally; and no, I haven't accidentally run it on WP). I really do edit files as quickly as my contribution logs indicate, especially when there are a large number of files each requiring the same or similar edits - it's simply a matter of cut-and-paste. (If you want a complete description of how I edit so quickly, I'd be happy to provide it.)
At the very least, you could have left a message on my talk page asking about this. BTW: if you based your decision on the message above this one, then please check Fingers-of-Pyrex talk page for some context.
Also, you blocked ] because I used the same IP address - is this typical in such situations? I don't remember seeing it in the various admin-related pages.
- Never mind; I found the answer to this here. Mindmatrix 22:42, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
Anyway, could you please unblock me...I have 40 tabs open in my browser right now, each with a failed edit because of the block. Mindmatrix 19:55, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
- Well, I've closed down all those unsaved edits, which is really irritating. What's more irritating is that I can't even leave a message for the admin that blocked me, hence s/he has no idea there's a message here to be read. Since I can't do anything on WP for the time being, I'll describe exactly how I manage to edit files so quickly - maybe someone will find this illuminating. Keep in mind that I use Firefox as my browser (version 1.0.6 on FreeBSD). I was blocked for re-stubbing Japan location articles, so let's take a look there, OK?
- First, my settings: mouse middle click on a link opens that link in a new tab (to the right), but stays on the current page. CTRL-tab shifts to the next tab (to the right), CTRL-Shift-Tab goes to the left, right mouse button is paste text, and Alt-S presses the Save page button. Now, do this:
- Load Grutness' geo-splits page in a tab: User:Grutness/Ongoing geo-stub splits
- Open a new tab, and load a category that has articles to be re-stubbed, for example: Category:Towns in Kumamoto Prefecture
- Middle click every town name quickly, going down a column. I usually split this into batches of 30 or so. Hence, you now have 30 new tabs open.
- Left hand - CTRL-Tab; right hand: mouse click on edit this page; repeat until all are open - do it as fast as you can.
- Come back to the first article to be edited, and make all edits necessary; in particular, add the stub {{Kumamoto-geo-stub}}. Copy that text with the mouse.
- Left hand - CTRL-Tab; right hand: position mouse below last category listed in article text, and paste. Repeat for all articles: - do it as fast as you can. Close tab if the article is clearly not a stub.
- Come back to the first article to be edited, Delete the previous stub template (if any).
- Left hand - CTRL-Tab; right hand: repeat stub deletion for all articles. Do it as fast as you can.
- Come back to the first article to be edited, Edit the summary field and copy it.
- Left hand - CTRL-Tab; right hand: position mouse at summary field (you should never have to move it), and paste. Repeat for all articles: - do it as fast as you can.
- Come back to the first article to be edited,
- Left hand - CTRL-Tab; right hand: Alt-S. You can do this blindingly fast.
- Once this category is done, repeat for similar categories - in this case: Category:Villages in Kumamoto Prefecture, Category:Cities in Kumamoto Prefecture and Category:Districts in Kumamoto Prefecture
- Once those are all done, update Grutness' page to reflect the new situation.
- Each batch of 30 files takes 10-15 minutes at most, depending on other edits that need to be made. (Note also that I have a high-res monitor, so I see the textarea, at 40 rows, and summary field in one screen -> no need for scrolling). What are you left with? 30 edited files, all seemingly within a minute of each other, separated by time gaps of 10-15 minutes, plus any breaks that are taken. Check my edit history, especially between Oct 10, 10:25 to Oct 13:01 to get a flavour for this. I re-iterate, I am not running a bot on WP. Please unblock me. Mindmatrix 22:42, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
Apparently, User:Lupo unblocked me at 15:55. Since I can't edit anything, I assume this is related to the one-day block of the IP from which I edit. I get a one-day wiki-break for contributing too much! Woo-hoo! (This is the polar opposite of the effects of contributing too much at work.) Maybe I should pledge to work less efficiently from now on :-) Mindmatrix 23:32, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'm leaving a note with Phroziac - hopefully he'll fix things up. In the meantime this might make your "holiday" a little brighter :) Grutness...wha? 00:42, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'm sorry. I suppose I could have left a message, but I always forget to do that. Were you seriously sorting stubs *THAT* fast? Please, slow down. A lot. The reason I blocked you was because it appeared you were a bot, runnig very fast with no throttle, and you don't have a bot flag. If you could restrict your edits to three or four times a minute, this will be much less load on our servers, make the site faster for everyone, and keep this from happening again. I'll be lifting your block in the next several minutes. Additionally, if there was some confusion still, I blocked your account, not an anon. Our autoblocker in the software is sorta...weird. --Phroziac 00:49, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
- I have now also removed the autoblock. Why didn't anybody else do so before? Lupo 06:50, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
- The double block looked like a single block - that left things screwed up enough that no-one noticed where the problem was, I suppose :/ Grutness...wha? 07:58, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

Being so productive that you get mistaken for a bot is a very high accolade indeed! Keep up the good work! Kim Bruning 10:28, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

It buuuuuuuuuuuurns...it buuuuuuuuuuuurns...
I just had to share this. It's...it's...breathtaking. Competely unedited, except for the occasional nowiki tag where necessary.
Adam Vaughan is currently CITY TV's political specialist in Toronto, Ontario, covering stories from Queen's Park (Toronto) and Toronto City Hall.
The Toronto, Ontario worked at Ryerson University radio station CKLN from 1982 to 1987 and was manager of the station from 1985 to 1987. He joined CITY in 1987 to produce "CityWide". He left in 1989 to AMARC as a board of director from 1989 to 1990. In 1990, he joined CBC Radio's Metro Morning as a segment producer. Later he joined part-time for CBC Evening News in 1994 and fulltime TV in 1995 covering City Hall. He returned to Citytv team in 2000 following the death of his father and CITYTV political specialist Colin Vaughan.
Other than working for CITY, Vaughan writes for Toronto Life and the Toronto Star. He is married to award winning CBC News anchor Suhana Meharchand (host of Saturday Report).

Skill testing question for the day: at what point did you get that "I know who did this" feeling in the pit of your stomach? Bearcat 07:53, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
- Every once in a while he goes off on these sudden benders where something in the news sets him spinning off into a whole new area of obsession...right after Peter Jennings died, he suddenly started laying weirdness onto CTV National News and its other early anchors (and get a load of this diff of his which I reverted). I'm not sure why he suddenly wrote up so many CITY and CJMT personalities in one batch, but his other pet project this week was Ontario finance ministers. Pretty easy to guess what inspired him there.
- The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to suspect that he's at least mildly autistic, actually. Bearcat 08:12, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
First Japan, then...
Good work on the japan-geo-stubs. What next? Good question - though judging by the lack of objections on sfd the Sydney and Melbourne stubs will all need moving soon... :) Grutness...wha? 05:05, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
Category names
The evolving consensus seems to be that the difference between "...in/of Canada" and "Canadian..." has more to do with whether the association is structural/organizational (Television stations in Canada, Elections in Canada, Politics of Canada, etc.) or cultural (Canadian writers, Canadian musicians, Canadian tap-dancing moose trainers, etc.) Which, yeah, strikes me as a confusing mess -- witness the current CFR debate over which convention "Theatre" should follow.
For me, the issue with categories like Oakvillians and Richmond Hillers is that I really don't think either city is significant enough to deserve its own "People from..." category. I'm not even convinced that Sudbury is important enough for one, and I grew up there. Bearcat 01:21, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
River Manifold
I removed the Derbyshire geo stub since the river is entirely in Staffs, (apart from its confluence with the Dove). The Dove however _is_ in both counties so I _added_ the Staffs-geo stub there.
You're right, really the cats need editing to reflect this - but I guess I thought enough people would look in the wrong cat (believing the Peak District and Derbyshire are the same place) that it was worth leaving in there.
'Some of the best bits of Derbyshire are in Staffordshire'!
But your view is as valid as mine, as long as we both agree on the basic geography. (Long ago, in the time of the Maud report (1968?), there were indeed proposals to bring the Manifold into Derbyshire, and to give some of the Northern Moorland to 'SELNEC') Bob aka Linuxlad 07:42, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
And the pain continues...
Wanna guess who instituted four separate categories to distinguish each miniscule change in the historical title of the Minister of Finance (Ontario)? Even when only one person ever held a particular form of the name? Bearcat 06:05, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
The Honourable Peter Smith was a Canadian politician. He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for Perth South from 1919 to 1923.
It was during his tenure as provincial treasurer from 1919 to 1923 did Smith become famous. He was forced to resign as treasurer due to the Ontario Bond Scandal.
Other ministers forced to resign from scandals:
- Greg Sorbara
- Elinor Caplan
- Chaviva Hosek

Date & Walnut loaf
Thanks for letting me know about the proposed deletion. Could you expand on your reasons? Are you against cake articles per se, or just ones that are currently too stubbby, or is there something else about this particular cake which marks its article out as unencyclopaedic? Electoral Districts
I would like to invite you to participate in Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Electoral districts in Canada. It is just getting started so please read through it, familiarize yourself with the topic and the options/examples and then participate in the debate about how the pages should best be laid out. --maclean25 20:33, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
- That provincial/federal overlap in Ontario is an issue. I understand this is a common thing in Ontario so there needs to be a clear policy on how to deal with these districts. Please bring this up in the naming conventions section or create a new sub-section to deal with this. Does Elections Canada control both? Are they really one district, or does one agency just copy another? --maclean25 21:16, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
- I hope you folks don't mind me jumping in on this one but I noticed it and thought I would join the fray. Mike Harris' government passed a bill during his first term that makes Ontario provincial districts follow the same borders as federal ones, this was a cost saving measure as it eliminated about two dozen ridings and also saves Ontario the expense of redrawing boundaries every decade or so. The reason why a current disparity exists is because new boundaries only take effect when there is a new election. The most recent boundaries took effect on April 1, 2004, some months after the last provincial election. Thus, the Ontario provincial ridings will come back into sync with the federal ridings for Ontario general election, 2007. - Jord 22:20, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
- You're welcome :) - Jord 00:08, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Two new suspicious IPs to monitor:
Note thematic interconnection of edits. Plus, as of yesterday, overlap with the known 206.47.220.230 IP. (How in the hell does our friend manage to have so many wildly different IP numbers?) And yeah, I'm getting tired of this, too, but I don't know what else we can do about it -- with that many different IP numbers, he's virtually unblockable, but if we actually care about Misplaced Pages there's just no way we can even think about letting such poor-quality edits stand unmonitored. Check / Cheque
The PROPER usage for the word license in the world of BSDs / Open Source is LICENSE. Using the word "licence" looks retarded, from the perspective of someone who has used BSDs for almost 20 years now.
It does not matter that OpenBSD's home is in Canada, you are being biased.
Even OpenBSD uses the spelling 'license' on their policy page: http://www.openbsd.org/policy.html
So let me guess, they have it wrong. Huh?
And in all of the OpenBSD CD releases, they use the word 'license'.
You are not following any Wiki "rules". Linux, FreeBSD, GNU all use the 'license' spelling.
It is not graffiti when correcting an error.

OpenBSD + Canada = The right to look retarded
Dear Wiki Nazi police,
You're an idiot. Biased because you are using a Canadian variant of the word.
Don't bother sending a message, I won't be checking.
And I will continue to make the proper correction on a semi-daily basis. I've written a script to do so, which will run via a cron job. Ban the IP addy, I don't care. I'll shoot through open proxies.

Demographics
Dear Wiki Nazi police,
Since Luigizanasi, you, and myself seem to be the only ones interested in the demographics section of the electoral districts, how about we each try to design a prototype section. Links to StatsCan electoral district profiles are on the page. If you don't want to mess around with code, then just a sketch of how you see the data, tables and graphs (infobox?) being laid out will be fine. Since the articles will focus much more on election results, this demographic section is just really just a sidenote to help put the results in context but it has the possibility of consuming a lot of room. So at this point I'm interested in seeing how this section will be laid out. At the sametime we can see what data is realistic to include and what is just too burdensome. How does this sound?
Also, I noticed you signed up for the CCOTM for this month's Geography of British Columbia. I hope you get a chance to add a section or two this month. --maclean25 06:09, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Lillooet page fixed
Checking in re fixup on Lillooet, British Columbia page, which you placed the cleanup tag on. Just to let you know I've put in section headings (designed towards a rewrite/edit soon) and a couple of lists of locals and visitors. I don't have any good current pictures of town that are public domain or GDFL but am trying to hunt some down; other than that is there any other fixup that you'd like to see? Does it read well?Skookum1 07:10, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Italian-Canadians
Thanks for the fix on Tronna. You might note that I've also linked the other cities mentioned, and noted that the numbers are for the Census metropolitan areas/Census agglomerations. On a more general note, I am not sure how to deal with (in Wikepedia) the relation between the Stats Canada concepts and the political divisions used by provincial governments. Should we have an article on each CMA/CA, or what? Suggestions & ideas welcome. Luigizanasi 07:03, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
You're a sysop!
Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on Votes for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Misplaced Pages up to date.
Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=Please also add your name to WP:LA. =Nichalp «Talk»= 15:03, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
