Matharu or Matharoo (ਮਠਾੜੂ in Gurmukhī script) is a prominent Sikh clan belonging to the Suthar, Ramgarhia tribe, who originated from Punjab

Origins

Matharu believe that they are descended from the Suthar. According to the Manu Smriti, the Namdhari are originally of Ramgarhia descent.

Ramgarhias are closely associated with the Tarkhan tribe, and related to Suthar tribe origin.
