Jennifer Nancy Willott (born 29 May 1974) is a British politician and the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Cardiff Central since the 2005 general election.
Willot has a history of work with charitable organisations such as OXFAM and a women's organisation in North India. She supports the movement of trade justice and has interests in human rights and social justice.
2005 Election
The gain of the Cardiff Central constituency by the Liberal Democrats in the 2005 General Election was an example of voters becoming disillusioned with Labour policies and the war with Iraq.
Willot's campaign specifically targeted the student population of nearly 10,000 that live and study around the Cathays/Roath area (the center of the constituency). The Liberal Democrats' policies to abolish tution fees are a major factor for a student body.
Most considered the result of the election in Cardiff Central as a forgone-victory in that the result was widly expected by all sides.
