Plot
Ryan goes to Ensenada, Mexico to take revenge on Volchok and Seth tags along, refusing to allow Ryan to ruin his life by committing murder. After leaving a coded note, Seth calls his parents, informing them of what's going on. In Mexico, Ryan tries to find Volchok but fails, while Seth tracks him down and gives Ryan false information about his whereabouts.
Summer is trying to save a tree with Che when Taylor pays her a surprise visit, telling her that she needs to sort things out with Seth. Summer, in denial, asks Taylor why she's back from France and they have an argument. Just before Taylor leaves, she adds that she got married in France. Summer tries to write a letter to Seth but can't find the words.
Kaitlin has problems at school and gets caught stealing clothes at a clothing drive at Harbor.
Sandy and Kirsten go to Mexico and bring Ryan and Seth back. Sandy tells Julie that he knows about her giving information to Ryan, and finally, Seth realizes that he really damaged his friendship with Ryan by 'betraying' him to his parents.

Airing
The second episode of the season was first aired Tuesday 8:00 p.m. (ET) November 7, 2006 on the Canadian network CTV. This was a day before its first airing in America. The Fox network aired the second episode at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday in a change from its normal Thursday slot. In Australia the episode was shown on Tuesday November 14, 2006 on Network Ten, and in the UK it aired Tuesday January 16, 2007 9:00 p.m on E4.
Before airing The Gringos was made available to stream on the internet in America and Canada. In Canada it was available to stream from midnight on Thursday, November 2. In the U.S. the episode was available to as part of Fox on demand. Viewers could stream the episode through Fox Interactive Media's Myspace and MyFoxLocal stations between November 3, 2006 at 4:01 a.m. and November 9, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. Fox then aired the episode at 9:00 p.m., with the episode available to stream again from 4:01 a.m. November 10 until 8:00 p.m. November 16.
