Sidhbari is a small town, situated in the foothills of Dhauladhar mountains, in Himachal Pradesh.
Overview
It derives its name from a sage, Baba Sidh. This small town is hustling with activity because of many landmark features. Very near to this village is Chinmaya Ashram or Sandeepany Himalayas. In this Ashram, is the Samadhi of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, founder of Chinmaya Mission.
Sidhbari is also temporary residence of the Karmapa (Ogyen Trinley Dorje), at Gyuto Monastery. Sidhbari is about six kilometers from Dharamsala, and about 15 kilometers from Mcleodgunj, where the 14th Dalai Lama lives.
It is believed by the locals that the dhuni(burning piece of wooden log) has been burning for centuries & has never been extinguished even once. Hence the vibhuti(ash)is said to have the sacred blessings of the Sidh Baba.
