:The top of the talk page quite clearly states that it is subject to ARBPIA discretionary sanctions, so I'm not sure if the technicality of receiving the warning prior to making the edits is relevant. By the way, he got the warning because I asked Tim Song to give it to him. I was getting pretty tired of the hostile environment he's creating there. I find it hard to believe no admin saw it as it was going on, but nobody did anything despite my specifically asking. I find that quite disappointing.
:I'd really prefer not to get involved with that AE case. If you can use the stuff, by all means do so, but I won't post it there. ] (]) 22:22, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 February newsletter

Round one is over, and round two has begun! Congratulations to the 64 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our first round. A special well done goes to Hungary Sasata (submissions), our round one winner (1010 points), and to Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions) and New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions), who were second and third respectively (640 points/605 points). Sasata was awarded the most points for both good articles (300 points) and featured articles (600 points), and TonyTheTiger was awarded the most for featured topics (225 points), while Hunter Kahn claimed the most for good topics (70). Connecticut Staxringold (submissions) claimed the most featured lists (240 points) and featured pictures (35 points), Geschichte (submissions) claimed the most for Did you know? entries (490 points), Jujutacular (submissions) claimed the most for featured sounds (70 points) and Republic of Ireland Candlewicke (submissions) claimed the most for In the news entries (40 points). No one claimed a featured portal or valued picture.

Credits awarded after the end of round one but before round two may be claimed in round two, but remember the rule that content must have been worked on in some significant way during 2010 by you for you to claim points. The groups for round two will be placed up shortly, and the submissions' pages will be blanked. This round will continue until 28 April, when the top two users from each group, as well as 16 wildcards, will progress to round three. Please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup; thank you to all doing this last round, and particularly to those helping at Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. As ever, questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, by email or on IRC. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Israel Prize recipients

Hi Ynhockey. Your User page, under "Lists of red links for article creation", includes a link to User:Ynhockey/Israeli prize winners, a list of 1950's Israel Prize recipients for which articles need to be created. As you are aware, I have been working on creating articles for Isreal Prize recipients and, in fact, there are now articles for all recipients through to 1959, accordingly no "red links" remain in your list. DYK for Battles of the Separation Corridor

Updated DYK query On March 1, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Battles of the Separation Corridor, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Please flag URL typos so they can be fixed, instead of removing references and blanking material

Why did you remove this material and its reference because of a minor typo in the URL?

It only took a moment for me to do a google search using the news article title to check that reference was valid and to find the correct URL. In future could you let me know if I have made a typo on my user talk page before blanking material? Thank you. Factsontheground (talk) 12:15, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Factsontheground, I invite you to review WP:AGF. Your accusations here certainly seem to suggest lack of adherence to that policy. Breein1007 (talk) 16:26, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
What accusations, Breein1007? It's funny how you've come straight from an AFD of an article I wrote straight to this unrelated discussion I am involved in. Factsontheground (talk) 02:05, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
This does not fall under WP:BLP because the material was sourced. There was a minor, 4-character typo in the URL field; however the news article was still correctly referenced by other identifying features, such as the title, publisher, author and date.
Checking that a source exists is not "research", Ynhockey. It takes a few moments and should be standard procedure before deleting any sourced material. Factsontheground (talk) 02:05, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Ynhockey, again this matter does not fall under WP:BLP because the material was sourced. The Ynet News article was correctly referenced by several identifying features, such as the title, publisher, author and date. There was a minor, 4-character typo in the URL field, but that was easily fixed given the other information.
I do not believe you quite understand Misplaced Pages's WP:PRESERVE policy. The person seeking to remove useful content must make a reasonable effort to correct inaccuracies and fix problems first. The fact that you did not care to check if the source existed before removing it, and also did this multiple times without making the slightest effort to check the source, does not help your argument. Please be much more careful next time when removing useful sourced information from Misplaced Pages.
You also accuse me of failing to check the source material. Of course I checked the source material -- how else could I have written the claims made in the source into Misplaced Pages? As I have repeatedly said, I made a 4 character typo in the URL. This was no error on my part but due to an internal URL changes on the Ynet News website. Please assume good faith and refrain from personal attacks. Factsontheground (talk) 02:25, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Article of possible interest

Hi, I found at a stub Iftach Spector was speedy-deleted one day after creation on the grounds of non-notability. Clearly the subject is notable so I restored it. Needs work, though. Zero 11:48, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Language barrier

Hi,

The problem of the copyright on the image has been solved (email of copyright release sent) Can you tell me what's the problem with the new section ? I am new to Misplaced Pages ... I just added the section where I saw fit Is there anything wrong with that ?

Thanks --Mahdi.mrabet (talk) 19:49, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Thanks for your answer, I'll keep that in mind for my future contributions ... Although, I have an additional question ... in the case there are other editors who have doubts about something, shouldn't they first express those doubts and then if no convincing answer is given delete the section ? I find deleting a section directly is a little bit rude ... It would discourage people from contributing ...

Thanks --Mahdi.mrabet (talk) 23:54, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Paras or Peres

Should the Hebrew transliteration be Peres or Paras? nableezy - 22:56, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

But we can change the text that we give as the Hebrew transliteration cant we? I dont really care which name the article uses as the title, but we cant use Paras when it is really Peres. nableezy - 23:44, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 March newsletter

We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly. Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B. New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Although unrelated to the WikiCup, April sees a Good Article Nominations backlog elimination drive, formulated as a friendly competition with small awards, as the Cup is. Several WikiCup contestants and judges have already signed up, but regular reviewers and those who hope to do more reviewing are more than welcome to join at the drive page. Why did you delete my edit on Jewish Resistance Movement?

Is there some kind of rule that Jews/Israelis can't be terrorists even if they bomb INNOCENT CIVILIANS? They were terrorists just as much as Al Queda is today. Not freedom fighters. Not radicals. Terrorists. Bombing trains amounts to terrorism. Re Mentorship for Mbz1

I saw that you had offered to mentor Mbz1, I think that is an excellent idea with or without the lifting of existing restrictions on her. I fear that she might be skirting very close to violating her current restrictions as well as needlessly exacerbating conflicts. I/A related ANI thread to which she was not a party. I think she could benefit from your mentoring. Kind Regards, Unomi (talk) 18:09, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Pictures, etc

I wondered if you could help me with pictures? The link to the Hebrew wp in both Sandala, Israel and Al-Bassa reveal pictures ..which are not on commons. From the license it looks as if they could be moved to commons? (I´m just guessing..) If so, it would be great if it was done... (hint, hint)

Another issue; we have just started a new article, Sheikh Bureik, Lajjun. Now, following "what links here" on commons on one of the pictures, I found the He-article, which I linked to. (see: http://he.wikipedia.org/שייח'_אבריק ). Since I have absolutely no idea as to what the article is about(!) -could you please check to see that it is relevant? Thanks! Cheers, Huldra (talk) 17:05, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the pictures! And I guess the link is sort of relevant, since the Sheikh Bureik, Lajjun-article is both about the village and the shrine. Cheers, Huldra (talk) 06:15, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

...and more pictures; following "what links here" on commons on some interesting pictures led me to these two articles:

I know both are in the Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut-area, and I am trying to find out if any of them are mentioned my books on Muslim architecture. Is it possible to find the co-ords of the place? Cheers, Huldra (talk) 16:19, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Zero managed to find them on a SWP-map. They are, as I thought, both in the Modin-area, but since I don´t have any literature on them: I´m not starting any articles on English wp about them. Thanks anyway, cheers, Huldra (talk) 12:49, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Tel Saki

Hello Ynhockey. I was wondering if you could provide some help with this Hebrew name. This mountain is called Tel Saki in the article (תל סאקי‎, Tel Saki), which I suspect is not quite precise (does saki mean anything particular in Hebrew?), because it seems that the name is derived from an arabic word (in addition to having Tel, rather than Har). I asked Nsaum75 and he suggested it might be "ma-shakeh" instead, which makes more sense because it translates into exactly the same meaning as the arabic word (Saki, ساقي). But I just needed to confirm that from a native speaker, and maybe if you can provide the Hebrew script for it, so we can fix it. Thanks. Yazan (talk) 07:27, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

amudanan calls it תל א-סקי not תל סאקי . Zero 07:53, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Native speaker? ;-) Anyway, more importantly, it's not a native speaker that would help. It's confirmation from someone that it has a different name in Hebrew. Some sites have retained their Arabic names and been transliterated into Hebrew. Breein1007 (talk) 15:01, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Breein1007, yeah Ynhockey just confirmed that on my talk page. Thanks for the response Ynhockey. Cheers! Yazan (talk) 15:56, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 April newsletter

Round two is over, and we are down to our final 32. For anyone interested in the final standings (though not arranged by group) this page has been compiled. Congratulations to Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions), our clear overall round winner, and to Colombia ThinkBlue (submissions) and Norway Arsenikk (submissions), who were solidly second and third respectively. There were a good number of high scorers this round- competition was certainly tough! Round three begins tomorrow, but anything promoted after the end of round two is eligible for points. 16 contestants (eight pool leaders and eight wildcards) will progress to round four in two months- things are really starting to get competitive.

Judge iMatthew has retired from Misplaced Pages, and we wish him the best. The competition has been ticking over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. A special thank you goes to participants Bavaria Stone (submissions) and White Shadows (submissions) for their help in preparing for round three. Good luck everyone! Template:Script/Hebrew

  • Lucida Grande is probably for MacIntosh. However, they have Times New Roman. About SBL Hebrew, it's the best font I know that can display nikudot (dots) clearly without the need for huge text sizes. I installed it, it's great. All of these fonts "SBL Hebrew", David, Narkisim, "Times New Roman", "Ezra SIL SR", FrankRuehl, are put into order from the best to the worse. So, now it makes sense for the order. Lucida Grande doesn't always show nikudot properly. If you were able to see nikudot of this word clearly now אֱלֹהִים‎ then you must be superman :D That template {{lang|he|אֱלֹהִים}}</nowiki> אֱלֹהִים is useless as it doesn't choose any appropriate Hebrew font. They had to omit the Holam in Elohim so that fonts such as Tahoma won't show it as this: אֱלֹהִים If the Holam isn't on the Lamed without a space between Lamed & He, then the font doesn't render Hebrew script with nikudot properly. The template is as useless as {{lang|ar|...)) --Mahmudmasri (talk) 03:14, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

We are half way through round 3, with a little under a month to go. The current overall leader is Hungary Sasata (submissions), who has 570 points. He leads pool C. Two of last year's final 8, Sweden Theleftorium (submissions) and Iceland Scorpion0422 (submissions), have dropped out of the competition, saying they would rather their place went to someone who will have more time on their hands than them next round. On a related note, a special thank you goes to White Shadows (submissions) for his help behind the scenes once again. There is currently a problem with the poster, perhaps caused by the new skin- take a look at this discussion and see if you can help. 2) In reality there is really no need to even have a section on genetics about said book because there is very little to no discussion of genetics in the book. That aside it's doubly pointless considering there is already other such discussions in other articles on Misplaced Pages which should be linked to instead. (Do note how it was left by me on the article in the interest of fairness something I think you should evaluate of yourself before you start making changes to others contributions).

3) Making a correct observation about this study based on the source of this research is not invalid. This is even more the case considering the source is available for everyone to check. Asking me to cite a reliable source when I'm referring to the source in question is absurd, unless you consider that source to be invalid or the statement I made counter to your agenda, but either way there was no cause for editing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.209.9.123 (talk) 14:06, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Three lookouts

Updated DYK queryOn June 18, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Three lookouts, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

AE

Not sure if these are relevant to your AE filing about Physchim62. Please have a look and feel free to use them if they are.

  • After he made his "murderous dogs" comment, I asked if this is considered acceptable discourse here. His response was that he was calling a spade a spade.
  • While looking up the two diffs I posted above, I happened to come across this, which seems like part of the same pattern.
  • Did you notice that in his response to your filing, he calls on other editors to also use[REDACTED] as a FORUM?

The top of the talk page quite clearly states that it is subject to ARBPIA discretionary sanctions, so I'm not sure if the technicality of receiving the warning prior to making the edits is relevant. By the way, he got the warning because I asked Tim Song to give it to him. I was getting pretty tired of the hostile environment he's creating there. I find it hard to believe no admin saw it as it was going on, but nobody did anything despite my specifically asking. I find that quite disappointing.
I'd really prefer not to get involved with that AE case. If you can use the stuff, by all means do so, but I won't post it there. No More Mr Nice Guy (talk) 22:22, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
