The trains are comparatively cheaper as compared to other express trains and reach to the destination within 5–6 hours only usually. They run on daily basis. Generally they complete the round trip in the day i.e return back to the origin station at night and use only a single rake.They generally have only sitting accommodation and a pantry car.
Exceptions
- Bhopal - Gwalior Intercity Express which runs only 5 days a week.
- Indore-Hazrat Nizamuddin Intercity Express which takes 11 hours to cover the 550KM strech between the 2 cities.This train uses 2 rakes between the stations and also has Sleeper Class, 1A, 2A and 3A coach.
