Translations of articles from one Misplaced Pages to another

Hi, thank you for translating the La Massana article on English Misplaced Pages into Turkish here and here. When you translate an article, you need to tell other people that you copied it from another Misplaced Pages by putting a message on the talk/discussion page of the translated article and by making an edit to the translated article with an appropriate edit summary. This policy is described Misplaced Pages:Translation, and it applies to all translations from English Misplaced Pages into other languages.

If the template existed on Turkish Misplaced Pages, you could put {{translated page|en|La Massana|368732969|8241697}} on the talk page tr:Tartışma:La Massana, but you need to check this as I do not know what the correct way of acknowledging translations is on trwiki. Please could you look it up and add whatever message you need on the talk page tr:Tartışma:La Massana, and also make an edit to the article tr:La Massana with an appropriate edit summary?

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask me here (not on my talk page because my ip address might change) or on the administrator's noticeboard. Thanks, 85.94.184.115 (talk) 02:24, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi again. Both English Misplaced Pages and Turkish Misplaced Pages are governed by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use. One of the rules is that nobody is allowed to translate or copy any part of any article from another Misplaced Pages unless they say where they translated or copied it from. This is a rule which applies to all Wikipedias including Turkish Misplaced Pages.
Your Turkish translation does include material from the English original; in fact, it is almost a word-for-word translation (it doesn't matter whether your version is longer or shorter). At the moment, your translated article and the talk page do not say anything about the origin of the article, which is English Misplaced Pages's La Massana. I could be wrong, but I think that that is against the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use.
Please could you ask an administrator on Turkish Misplaced Pages to confirm whether there are any policies on Turkish Misplaced Pages to deal with articles translated from other Wikipedias? If Turkish Misplaced Pages really does not have any such policies, it needs to develop some of its own. I think it would be helpful to involve the administrators on English Misplaced Pages. I will ask for some assistance. Thanks for your reply. 85.94.184.115 (talk) 15:14, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
