Aisha was the daughter of Abu Bakr and married the prophet Muhammad, possibly at the age of 6, making her his third wife.

Other hadiths give the age as being sixteen, and it being consummated at nineteen. This is a major source of controversy, and is often used to attack the validity of Islam.
