In the 68000 era Jochen Hippel was a member of the 'demo' crew The Exceptions (TEX). Let's say they initiated the Demo Scene. Jochen, already known as Mad Max, was the music coder. On his couch in Kirchheimbolden, in the southwest of Germany , he codes mostly sounds for the Atari ST soundchip. The Yamaha Sound Chip, which was in that machine, was not as good as the chip in the older C64, but Mad Max found a way and presented a nine voice sound on a three voice machine. In the biggest Demo of his crew, the B.I.G.Demo (Best In Galaxy) he ported many sounds from the C64 onto the Atari ST.
